GMC Acadia

GMC is known for big, burly SUVs that are capable of making ‘Murica great again. However, global demand for midsize crossovers has meant that carmakers need to toe the line if they are to rake in revenue. GMC took heed and gave us the Acadia. This midsize three-row crossover is GMC’s answer to the likes of Cadillac XT6, Lincoln Aviator, and Nissan Pathfinder. The Acadia is known for offering almost car-like handling despite being a long, tall crossover. Receiving a facelift and new technology in 2020, the Acadia in the UAE now has projector headlights, LED taillights, and redesigned infotainment and driver instrument consoles. Powering the American crossover is a 3.6-litre V6 mated to an automatic gearbox, putting down 310hp and 366Nm. With a claimed fuel economy of 8.8l/100km, the car still surprises you by clocking 100kph in 6.8 seconds. On the flip side, off-roading is not the GMC Acadia’s forte. The crossover is instead more of a highway machine that can sit at triple-digit speeds all day. It has features more suited to that role in the form of tri-zone climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, premium audio, TPMS, six airbags, available sunroof, GMC’s StabiliTrak stability control system, cruise control, lane assist, and so on. As regards safety, buyers of the Acadia benefit from ABS, EBD, brake assist, hill hold assist, disc brakes at all four ends, traction control, driving modes, and blind spot monitor. The 2021 GMC Acadia starts from AED 135,600 for the entry-level SLE2 FWD trim, going up to AED 150,400 for the AT4 trim with all-wheel-drive.
