The SUV segment in the country is very competitive with some of the best SUVs available in the region from the most popular brands around the world. 1) 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado



The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado gets five engine options globally including two petrol, a diesel, a petrol hybrid and a diesel hybrid powertrain. All five engines get a four-wheel-drive system as standard. Only two of the five available engines will make it to UAE as the 2.4-litre turbo petrol and the 2.8-litre turbo diesel are planned for the Middle East.



1. LC Prado's 2.4-litre Turbo Petrol Engine

A 2.4-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 281 horsepower and 430Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Planned for the Middle East, Eastern Europe, etc.

2. LC Prado's 2.8-litre Turbo Diesel Engine

A 2.8-litre turbo four-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 204 horsepower and 500Nm of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Planned for Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Japan, the Middle East, etc.




The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado gets 18-inch alloys and 20-inch alloys in the mid and higher variants. The Toyota Prado has continuously offered the option of having two fuel tanks; the present version possesses a total capacity of 150 litres (consisting of an 86-litre primary tank and a 63-litre secondary tank). Toyota has confirmed the pricing for the new Land Cruiser Prado to start around the mid-$50,000 range in the USA, around AED 200,000*. The exact price will be announced closer to its launch date.

2) Nissan Patrol

One of UAE's all-time favourite SUVs, the Nissan Patrol is a strong and durable SUV that can handle difficult terrain pretty easily, the SUV has an incredible road presence complimented by its comfortable and spacious cabin. The Japanese carmaker offers the Patrol in three engine options across nine variants.


The Nissan Patrol's engine options consist of a 4.0-litre V6 that produces 275 horsepower and 394Nm of torque, a larger 5.6-litre V8 that generates 400 horsepower and 560Nm of torque, and the 2023 Patrol NISMO’s 5.6-litre V8 engine generates a peak power output of 428 horsepower and a peak torque of 560Nm. All three engines are mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission.


The Nissan Patrol gets 18-inch alloys in base and mid variants and 20-inch alloy wheels in higher variants and 21-inch in the NISMO variant, the car features a 140-litre fuel tank across all the variants and delivers fuel efficiency of 13-15kmpl. The Patrol comes at the starting price of AED 210,000*.

3) Ford Explorer



The Ford Explorer with its commanding road presence and roomy interior and cutting-edge safety features is a  fantastic option for families. The SUV comes with four engine options across six variants.


The four-engine options on the SUV include a 3.3-litre V6 petrol engine with an output of 285 horsepower and 353Nm of torque, a 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine that makes 300 horsepower and 420Nm of torque, a 3.3-litre hybrid V6 with an output of 318 horsepower and 437Nm of torque and a 3.0-litre EcoBoost V6 Petrol that makes 400 horsepower and 563Nm of torque. All the engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.


The Explorer gets 18-inch wheels in the base variants, 20-inch in the mid and 21-inch in the top variants. It comes with a 76.5-litre fuel tank capacity and delivers a fuel efficiency of 13kmpl. The starting price of the Ford Explorer in UAE is AED 199,395*.

4) Chevrolet Tahoe



The Chevy Tahoe is a versatile SUV with attractive looks and comfortable seats, also offers impressive towing capabilities and plenty of cargo space. The Tahoe is available with two engine options across five trims.


The SUV comes with a 5.3-litre V8 that produces 355 horsepower and 518Nm of torque, the other engine option it gets is a 6.2-litre V8 engine that makes 420 horsepower and 624Nm of torque. 10-speed automatic transmission is standard on both engines.

5) GMC Yukon



The GMC Yukon is a versatile SUV with striking looks outside and roomy and plush seats inside, and the car has impressive capabilities. GMC offers six trim levels and two engine options for the vehicle.


The 5.3-litre V8 engine that comes as standard makes 355 horsepower and 518Nm of torque, while the 6.2-litre V8 engine that is an option makes 420 horsepower and 624Nm of torque. An automatic transmission with 10 speeds is mated to both engines.


The Yukon is available with 18-inch, 20-inch, and 22-inch wheels depending on the trim. It has a 98-litre fuel tank and delivers a 9 kmpl fuel efficiency. 6) Jeep Grand Cherokee



The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a popular SUV, known for its off-road capabilities but the SUV also offers a comfortable on-road performance too, its upscale interior with its bold looks makes a great combination. It comes with two engine options and is offered in four trims.


The base model gets a 3.6-litre V6 engine with an output of 293 horsepower and 352Nm of torque. Option 5.7-litre V8 engine comes in the higher trims, which delivers 357 horsepower and 528Nm of torque. Both engines come with eight-speed automatic transmissions.


The Grand Cherokee's base models get 20-inch wheels and 21-inch wheels are also available. It comes with a 93.5-litre fuel tank and provides a fuel economy of 9kmpl. In the UAE, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has a starting price of AED 214,900*.

7) Mercedes-Benz GLE



The all-new Mercedes-Benz GLE is a 5-seater SUV that offers a luxurious ride with advanced technology features and a stunning-looking exterior, making it a great choice for those who want comfort, performance and looks. The SUV is available with three engine options across three trims.


The GLE 450 4MATIC gets a 3.0-litre inline-six engine that makes 381 horsepower and 500Nm, the AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ gets another 3.0-litre inline-six engine that delivers 429 horsepower and 520Nm of torque and the AMG GLE 63 S 4MATIC+ gets a 4.0-litre V8 engine produces 571 horsepower and 750Nm of torque. A 9-speed automatic transmission mated to all the engines.


The GLE gets alloy wheels that range from 19 inches in the base model to 20 inches in higher trims. It has an 85-litre fuel tank and provides 8.4kmpl fuel efficiency. Mercedes Benz GLE has a starting price of AED 280,500* in the UAE.

8) BMW X5



The new BMW X5 is a sporty, powerful and luxurious SUV that provides outstanding performance and is loaded with cutting-edge technology. The luxury SUV comes with four engine choices, it comes in four trims.


The base engine offers a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine with 375 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque, a 3.0-litre six-cylinder inline-six diesel engine with the mild hybrid system produces 298 horsepower and a peak torque of 670Nm of torque while the higher trims offer a 4.4-litre V8 engine with 523 horsepower and 750Nm of torque. Eight-speed automatic transmissions are mated to both engines.


The X5 also gets a plug-in hybrid inline six-cylinder xDrive50e petrol engine and a new electric motor combinedly to deliver 483 horsepower and 700Nm of torque
