The automotive industry is rapidly moving towards an electric future. Many car makers have invested a very large sum of money to be ready for the future. Numerous minds are brainstorming only about electric vehicles. General Motors also is involved in this game and it revealed its future plans at the World Future Energy Conference.
It was in Abu Dhabi where this year's World Future Energy Conference was held during 15-18th Jan. Gary D. West, Urban Active Operations Manager General Motors International, spoke about General Motor's commitment to contributing to an all-electric future with zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion.
General Motors is dead-serious about the all-electric future. During its progress in this field, it has realised that the four major pillars that are currently transforming the transportation across the world, are in-vehicle connectivity, sharing, electrification and autonomous driving. The international firm also discussed its future plans involving electric vehicles. By 2023, it will have 20 new electric vehicles that people can buy. As of now, out of those 23, two would be launched within the next 18 months.

General Motors Middle East will participate in the 2018 Global Electric Vehicle Road Trip (Global EVRT) which is scheduled to take place between 18-26th Jan. The event includes a 1,217km road trip cross-desert between UAE and Oman. General Motors Middle East is providing three Bolt EVs to participants to allow them to experience and test drive the car. This is a remarkable effort by the company because people will get to test ride this car almost a year ago as it is scheduled to be officially launched in the Middle East market by the end of this year.

Speaking at the Global Electric Vehicle Road Trip launch event, Molly Peck, Chief Marketing Officer General Motors Middle East, said “Firmly dedicated to furthering the knowledge and adoption of EVs in the region, we are thrilled to be part of the 2018 EVRT Middle East edition. We can't wait for participants to get behind the wheel and experience the Chevrolet Bolt EV's outstanding green credentials that combine innovative technologies and an unprecedented driving range of over 500km.”
