The Pagani Huayra R Is An 850 Horsepower Track-Only Monster
This is the freest, most extreme and performance-oriented Pagani car of all time.” This is how Horacio Pagani describes his latest creation – the Huayra R.
The Huayra R is the successor to the Zonda R and packs a 6.0-litre AMG V12 thumping out a whopping 850 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque. No turbocharging or supercharging, the Huayra R has blue-blooded Italian horsepower. Oh, and before we forget, the engine has a redline of 9,000rpm. This mighty engine is mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox.
Pagani’s new monocoque is made from Carbo-Titanium HP62-G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62 and offers 51% more flexural rigidity and 16% more torsional rigidity as compared to a ‘standard’ Huayra.
There are carbon ceramic brakes on offer. Also, the Huayra R has very clever active aero and active suspension made from aluminium. The suspension has independent double wishbones with helical springs and electronically controlled active shock absorbers.
We are told that the hypercar’s interior “cannot fail to impress”. Inside you will find a hi-res display on the centre console and a quick release steering wheel via which you can tinker with traction control, ABS and radio.
The Huayra has all the proper racey stuff like a full roll-cage, fire extinguishers, flame-proof materials and driver and passenger protection meeting FIA GT safety standards.
Unveiled in 2014, this Pagani is the Huayra’s ultimate swan-song. For this special car Horacio Pagani was inspired from Le Mans and World Sports-Prototype Championship cars of the 1960s and 1970s.
Only 30 Huayra Rs will be built and each will set you back $3.5 million and – surprise – all the units are not yet sold out. This means that there is still time to break the piggy bank and contact Pagani.
