The VelociRaptor Is Already Old: Meet The Hennessey Goliath 6x6

Hennessey Performance unleashes the Chevrolet Silverado-based Goliath 6x6 upon the world, because that was the only thing missing in everyone's lives: a 6x6 truck that can crack the ton under five seconds anywhere you want it to.
Another day, another 6x6. We would have dismissed the Silverado six-wheeler as yet another outlandish custom. This Chevy, however, comes from the house of Hennessey Performance, meaning it has to be an insane truck. And being a Hennessey, it makes us question whether the Texans drink regular beer or race fuel in the evenings.
The truck we are talking about is the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss Z71. Quite a mouthful of a name, but bear with us. The Trail Boss sits at the top of the Silverado line, and as such boasts of bigger everything, notably a 5.3-litre Vortec V8 motor paired to an eight-speed transmission that makes 310hp and 450Nm. Hennessey Performance promptly ripped out the Silverado's powerplant, preferring to plonk in its own: an HPE700 7.2-litre supercharged V8 that puts down 705 horses and 915Nm. To say the Silverado gets a power bump would be an understatement.
The engine does make extraordinary power, but at the same time, it has to lug around all that truck. Hennessey claims a 'mid-four-second range' for the six-wheeler to crack the ton. Yes, mid-four-second. An Audi S4 takes roughly the same amount of time to reach a hundred, but it needs a stretch of smooth tarmac to achieve that. With the Goliath 6x6 you can crack the ton anywhere you damn well please.
Aside from the obvious extra axle and set of wheels, Hennessey has lifted the truck by eight inches. The load bed is custom made to take in the extra axle, and there is an all-new off-road-ready suspension setup out back. The truck rolls on 37-inch BF Goodrich off-road tyres, and gets a plethora of accessories. Special bumpers on both ends, roll bar, LED lights, a Hennessey graphics package: it's all good. But perhaps the most impressive offering with the Goliath is Hennessey's warranty coverage of three years or 57,000km.
We have to hand it to the Texans, they know their stuff well. Coming back to the kind of drinks these guys seem to down by litres, Hennessey also offers an optional 808-hp upgrade for the Goliath 6x6 that includes a Brembo brake kit and a custom interior, but it isn't covered by warranty. Simply put, "Yeah you can have that power, but don't come to us if you can't handle it."
Then again, if you are willing to part with $375,000 for the Goliath, we don't think you'd be up for the sort of monkey business the truck can't handle. Finding out what it can't take is going to be a goliath task though, right?
