Nissan has revealed the 2019 Maxima and will formally unveil the sedan at the upcoming Los Angeles Motor Show which will take place at the end of November.

The Japanese automaker has released just one image of the new sedan and has not divulged further details yet. However, the 2019 Nissan Maxima will come with the Nissan Safety Shield 360 safety suite that incorporates a wide variety of safety and driver assistance systems.

From what we can gauge from the one photo Nissan has provided, the 2019 Maxima shows off a revised front fascia including the front bumper and fog lamps. The headlights are also slightly restyled and now incorporate LEDs. The other aspects of the car such as the profile, rear end, and interiors are not revealed yet, but it will be safe to say the rear end of the 2019 Nissan Maxima will also bear slight updates and design touch-ups.

As for the interiors, we can assume that the new Maxima will get a new touchscreen infotainment system with improved software and a larger screen than before. New trims and colour options can also be expected to be offered with the new sedan.

The 2019 Nissan Maxima will soldier on with the 3.5-litre V6 under the hood. In its current guise, the motor is good for 300hp and 353Nm. Front wheel drive will be standard with the engine powering the wheels through an XTronic CVT automatic transmission. Nissan will start selling the Maxima in the USA by December. It will arrive in the UAE in early 2019 where it will face stiff competition from the 2019 Toyota Avalon which has its feet (or wheels?) planted firmly in the country due to a near-six-month headstart.

The sedan is segment is currently facing a meltdown on a global scale. Today’s crossovers strike the perfect balance between an SUV’s spacious proposition and a sedan’s ride quality, taking the glamour off the traditional three-box sedan. Despite having a number of crossovers and SUVs in its lineup, Nissan is still aggressively launching, updating, and revamping its sedan offerings. Perhaps this is part of a longer-term game plan the Japanese automaker has put in place, or maybe the car is a dependable cash cow prompting Nissan to keep it on sale. Either way, we can’t wait to witness the 2019 Maxima face off against the Avalon here in the UAE.
