Nissan Next: Several New Models Incoming!

Nissan just posted a video that promises to modernize its range of exciting cars, as well as bringing a dormant brand back to life. A new Z is coming!

In a new video that has gone viral from the automaker, Nissan has teased several new models in the pipeline. One of the new cars is also a ‘Z’ model!

The silhouettes show the upcoming Ariya, Kicks, Murano, Navara, Pathfinder, Patrol, and lastly the new Z sportscar. Clearly, Nissan is planning a two-pronged strategy as regards cars in the UAE. The SUV-heavy lineup clearly shows the Japanese automaker’s backing of large vehicles that have traditionally done well in the Gulf states.

Nissan Ariya: All We Know

Although the concept Ariya looks rather radical, the production model will, of course, be toned down. Debuting at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, the Ariya sits on a universal platform unlike the Nissan Leaf. So we’re probably looking at a lot more EVs from the company in the future.

Not much is known about the Ariya for now, except for a few tidbits. The electric crossover will have two motors, Nissan ProPilot 2.0 to assist the driver, batteries housed in the chassis making for a flat floor in the cabin, and so on. Expect the Ariya to be available by the end of this year as a 2021 model.

Nissan Z

Nissan has been notoriously lazy in updating its line of sportscars, the last of which was the 370Z. And it is, in modern automotive language, almost a vintage. The pace of progress of performance cars has been growing exponentially every year. Yet, the 370Z has been around since 2009.

Now there’s a new Z on the horizon, giving Nissan sportscar loyalists something to dream about. Word on the street is it will be called 400Z, but the jury is still out on this one. What we can see from the video is that Nissan has gone back to the Z’s roots, which stretch in the past to the original Datsun 240Z.

Upon launch, the 350Z and its successor 370Z were all but ridiculed for having strayed away from the Fairlady design. Curvy profile and tall, bulbous rear ends of the cars met with less-than-ideal reception from prospective customers and fans alike. That was until the cars were driven.

Z cars have always been exceptional handlers, and now the new silhouette promises to look the part as well. Expect the new Z to compete against the Toyota Supra, Subaru BR-Z, BMW Z4, and the Jaguar F-Type upon launch.

What about the SUV range?

The SUVs sharing space in the video will most likely receive mild visual updates along with new technology and improved powertrains under the hood. Nissan recently refreshed the massively popular Patrol, launching globally from the UAE. It would be safe to say that the Ariya and new Z will be the focus for Nissan. However, we would gladly eat our own words if Nissan does give every car in the video a substantial makeover or update.
