Ford has revealed the 2019 Ranger Raptor at an event in Thailand. This is the latest offering from the American manufacturer which is primarily targeted for the customers in the Asia-Pacific market.
The new Ford Ranger Raptor is one of those pickup trucks that you wouldn't want to see in your rear-view mirror speeding towards you. It is the younger brother of the F-150 Raptor. It doesn't look younger. It's as intimidating as a proper big pickup truck. Look at it. The massive front grille with 'Ford' embossed on it, along with the tensed and angry face, thanks to the DRLs and headlights, gives the vehicle a very bold and mean appearance. It seems to be ready to pounce.
The intimidating character of the new Ford Ranger Raptor is also because of the size of the vehicle. Measuring at 1873mm tall, 2180mm wide and 5398mm long, with a ground clearance of 283mm, it stands proudly on its beefier BF Goodrich All-Terrain tyres. Its tall stance also comes from the specially-built Fox Racing shocks, with an independent front suspension and coil-sprung Watts-link solid rear axle.
The 2019 Ranger Raptor is the younger brother of the F-150 Raptor, perhaps because of the engine which it comes with. Ford has used an all-new 2.0-litre, twin-turbo, diesel engine which has been tuned in a state to produce a max power of 210bhp and generate a peak torque of 500Nm. It comes with the Ford's 10-speed automatic transmission. Thankfully, there are paddle shifters, so driving enthusiasts wouldn't need frown upon. According to Ford, the turbochargers used on the new the 2019 Ranger Raptor are sequential ones. This means that there is a smaller unit to spool up during the lower revs, and it gets by-passed when the larger one kicks in.
The interiors of the new 2019 Ranger Raptor gets Ford Performance accents which include bolstered seats, magnesium shift paddles, etc.. There's nothing special here, and everything is pretty much what you'd expect and see inside a Ford.
Being a pickup truck, and loaded with all those aforementioned mechanicals, the 2019 Ranger Raptor has to be a good off-roader. Ford has provided different driving modes so that you'd be able to take this little giant monster almost anywhere you'd please. The modes include - Normal, Sport, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Sand, Rock, and Baja. Choose your pick.
Ford has not released any official dates for the launch of the new 2019 Ranger Raptor. We don't have a price for this as of now. But we're sure that Ford is going to reveal more details about the vehicle pretty soon.
