Lamborghini has been working on a 'super SUV' for quite some time now. In fact, it was the year 2012 when the Italian manufacturer first showcased it as a concept at the Beijing Motor Show. Now, a few pictures of a test mule of the Urus have come out on the Internet.
The pictures were taken at a gas station in Europe. It can be clearly seen that the test vehicle is heavily camouflaged as to not reveal much of the design elements. However, we can see a few of those elements like the front honeycomb-like big grille, side air intakes, etc.
The alloy wheels look pretty old-school types but we think these would be replaced by better ones in the production model. Then at the rear, we've got thin but large tail lamps with a spoiler light as well. We also see the four circular exhaust pipes peeking out from under the bumper.
It's being said that just like the Audi Q8, the Urus is based on the MLB-Evo platform. In terms of engine, it would be powered by a 4.0 litre, twin-turbo, V10 engine which would produce around 650hp of max power. This engine would be sourced from Porsche. Lamborghini is also open to launch V6 variant as well as a hybrid version of the Urus later in future.
The Urus will be Lamborghini's second SUV till date. The first one was the LM002 which was launched in 1986. Lamborghini has picked 4th Dec 2017 for the world premiere of the Urus. To begin with, the company will target markets in the USA, China, Middle East, the UK, Germany and Russia. It is estimating annual sales of around 3,000 units.
