Motorists across the UAE can now settle up traffic fines in a convenient manner thanks to the new payment scheme set up by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai.
RTA Dubai has made it easy for people with outstanding dues to settle up using plastic money and the option of instalments. Motorists can pay fines incurred using credit cards of as many as seven banks. The banks are Mashreq Bank, Abu Dhabi Commercial bank, Dubai Islamic Bank, EmiratesNBD, Noor Bank, Emirates Islamic Bank, and Commercial Bank International.
Ahmad Al Kaabi, Executive Director (Finance), Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector for the Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai said, “RTA has launched this service to enable clients to pay fines due to RTA in easy instalments through credit cards over a period of one year without incurring bank interests.” He also added that more banks will be added to the facility shortly.
Additionally, fines issued by the RTA can be repaid in a maximum of 12 monthly instalments. The instalments are interest-free, which is an added bonus of the scheme. The online repayment system is valid for all vehicles registered in the different Emirates. The instalment offer is only valid on fines issued by the RTA.
To avail the finance offer, motorists need to process the payment through RTA Dubai's smartphone app. There is no upper limit to the accumulated fine amount to be repaid through instalments. Drivers in Dubai can opt to settle up outstanding dues via cheque. This offer can only be availed by those with Dubai-registered vehicles. Instalments on fines are only processed if the minimum accumulated amount is AED 5,000 for individuals and AED 20,000 for companies.
