Pure-Electric Volvo C40 Recharge Revealed With Sharp Looks and Lots Of Power
Ladies and gentlemen, the Volvo you see above is not only the brand's first pure-electric car but it is also the start of a new era for the Swedish brand. Volvo will go fully electric by 2030 and the C40 Recharge is the first of many electric Volvos set to be revealed in the coming months.
Sitting on the CMA platform, the C40 Recharge is basically a coupe-fied XC40. It shares most of its tech with the XC40 like over-the-air updates for the battery management software and has the same claimed range figure of 260 miles. Volvo claims that you can charge the car's battery to 80% in 40 minutes while charging via a 150kW charger,
The 78kWh lithium-ion battery in the C40 gives the car 402bhp and 487lb ft. As a result, the car can do 100kph in under 5 seconds and has a top speed of 180kph.
This is the first Volvo to have no leather inside while you will find Google Android-based infotainment system earlier seen on the electric XC40.
No pricing has been released by Volvo yet and - surprise - you will not be able to buy one by walking into a showroom. The C40 will be the first Volvo available to be bought online.
