Porsche is all set to pull the lid on the redesigned 911 at the upcoming LA Auto Show this month. The car is internally referred to as the 992 and marks the eight generation of the German manufacturer's iconic sports car.
After 55-years of blessing us with sincere performing and achingly-beautiful machines, the eighth generation is expected to be no less than its predecessors. The 911 still remains as the car which stood the test of time while keeping up to the latest tech upgrades of the era.
The 911, however, saw its inception bearing a 901-nameplate 55 years back when it was introduced to the public at the 1963 Frankfurt Auto Show. The 911 badge was born by the car only a year later.

The new iteration of the continuing tradition is set to be showcased on November 27 and presented a day later at the LA Auto Show. While the models will be showcased this year, we won't be seeing the car in the showrooms any time soon since the company has planned the new 911 to be an MY2020 car.
Reports suggest that the firsts of the 911 that will be introduced by the company would be the Carrera and Carrera S. However, all models including the Turbo and GT3 will also be soon launched along with a hybrid.
Porsche has based the new 911 on an updated version of the platform that underpinned the outgoing 991. This invites better flexibility while positioning the engine and the suspension hardware. Apart from that, the new platform will also make it easier for Porsche to add an electric-hybrid powertrain as well.
Porsche has pumped up the power on the 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-6 engine on the base variant from 370bhp to 385bhp. Meanwhile, the more powerful S version has seen a rise from 420bhp to 450bhp. The existing seven-speed manual transmission will be retained while the seven-speed DCT will give way to an eight-speed version.
