Hyundai Accent is one of the successful products that the company has ever introduced in the Middle East market. Keeping this in mind, the Korean firm has officially launched the all-new 5th generation Accent.
The new Accent features a new design to gel with the current times. It seems that Hyundai is trying to implement this design into all of its products. The new bigger front grille along with the wrap-around pair of headlights, give the car a confident and sophisticated look. The headlights also get DRLs as optional. To add a bit of sportiness to the car's character, there's a sharp line that runs the length of the car and merges into the LED tail lights, which are wrap-around ones as well.
The new Hyundai Accent comes with two engine options - 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol variants. Hyundai has also launched the new model in Africa, so there's also an option of getting a diesel variant. Speaking about the new car, Mike Song, Hyundai's Head of Operations for Africa and the Middle East, said, “This new model makes several key improvements on the previous Hyundai Accent, which was already an excellent car and very popular with customers. Design and engineering are completely fresh, ensuring a car that looks superb, is enjoyable to drive, with high levels of safety, and will be economical to own. The New-generation Hyundai Accent includes many of the latest auto innovations available, immediately setting a new benchmark for its segment. It offers something exceptional to car buyers, and will continue the Accent success story.”
Inside, the new Hyundai Accent gets a driver-oriented layout. Hyundai has made the new car a bit wider and longer than the previous generation model. This has allowed it to give more cabin space. Hyundai says that they've worked extensively to reduce the cabin noise level. Premium, soft-touch materials in key points create an inviting and comfortable environment for the driver and passengers. A wide instrument panel prominently features a standard backup camera system via the touchscreen LCD display. Beneath the screen, the control panel is laid out in a horizontal design with buttons and controls logically grouped by function.
Hyundai has also worked to improve the safety standards of the new 5th generation Accent. Features like electronic stability control, traction control, anti-lock brakes and emergency stop signal, comes as standard. Then there's the option of getting six-airbags and static bending headlights. Hyundai claims that the body of the new model is stronger than that of the last model. It has improved the torsional rigidity through the increased use of advanced high strength steel and structural adhesives. Improvements have also been made to the front side members and inner side sill for improved collision protection, the front crumple zones have been increased, front side airbags have been upgraded, and reinforcements have been added to improve the car's collision energy management performance, especially in small overlap crashes.
