Lamborghini has revealed the Huracan Spyder ahead of its official debut at this year's Geneva Motor Show next week.
The Italian company lowered the top on the Huracan Evo after its coupe sibling was launched earlier this year. Alongside the achingly-beautiful style and presence that comes in the package of an Italian convertible, the new Huracan EVO Spyder boasts an identical top speed to its hard-top sibling.
Like any other convertible, the Huracan EVO Spyder is also heavier than the Huracan EVO, 120kg to be precise. This is due to a new soft-top mechanism that can open or close the roof in 17 seconds at speeds up to 50kph. While this does not affect the top speed, the supercar now clocks a slower time to the ton.
Lamborghini has equipped the Huracan EVO Spyder with pop-up rollover bars that accommodate behind the seat. The Huracan EVO Spyder come with windows that can be retracted whether the roof is up or down. Hence, occupants can now enjoy the glorious symphony of the naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine.
Similar to the Huracan EVO, the Spyder outputs 631hp and 601Nm of torque. In addition to this, Lamborghini has also graced the car with plenty of clever technology. You get rear-wheel steering and four-wheel torque vectoring as on the Coupe. The folks at Bolognese claims that the new Huracan EVO Spyder works with five times more downforce as the old Huracan. Cabin airflow is said to be minimized to assure a “quiet cockpit environment”, that is when the V10 isn't at full chat, of course.
The Italian company has confirmed that the Huracan EVO Spyder will soon hit the showrooms and will be sold at a premium of around AED 60,000 over the coupe. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in early 2020.
