Hyundai motor company digitally held a world premiere to unveil the all-new 2024 Kona, now presented as an upgraded multiplayer in the subcompact SUV segment. The new Kona retains its iconic character and gets a more rugged look with bigger dimensions and comes with new technologies and features that customer experience.
First Hyundai developed the Kona as an electric vehicle in line with the company’s accelerated electrification strategy announcement that will bring 11 new Hyundai EVs to market by 2030. But the second generation Kona is now available in a wide range of powertrains including EV, hybrid electric (HEV) and internal combustion engine (ICE) variants, and sporty N Line versions of each.
Technical details of the new Hyundai Kona
The new 2024 Kona gets two battery options - a 48.4kWh standard-range battery that delivers 153 horsepower and 255Nm of torque and a 65.4kWh long-range battery that makes 214 horsepower and 255Nm of torque, both the variants available with a two-wheel drive system. The shift-by-wire gear selector has been relocated from the centre console to behind the steering wheel as the part of the new layout.
The Kona ICE variant gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine as standard that produces 147 horsepower and 179Nm of torque, and an optional 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine for the N Line variant that makes 195 horsepower and 264Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission with SHIFTRONIC on N Line.
