The 2018 MECOTY Awards was recently wrapped up after a successful and gigantic event. It is one of the most prestigious awards here in the UAE. Just like MECOTY, another prestigious award is the Wheels COTY. And this year Honda Cars win at both of them.
In the latest revelation, Al Futtaim Honda has announced that Honda Jazz has won the Best Compact Car award at the annual Wheels COTY awards, whereas Honda Accord and Honda CR-V wins the Best Mid-size Sedan and Best Small SUV respectively at the 2018 MECOTY awards.
Commenting on the wins, Eric Benavente, Regional Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Honda said, “We are extremely pleased to have won these prestigious awards as the judging panel includes some of the biggest names in automotive journalism and experts in their field. The awards are also further testament to the quality and performance of these vehicles and is a fantastic accolade for the brand.”
The new Honda Jazz is a feature-loaded compact car. Honda had put in a plethora of necessary features on the latest model which made it possible for the Jazz to not only get nominated for the Wheels COTY awards but also score a win. It has got a 7-inch touchscreen display, steering mounted controls, keyless entry, cruise control, rear parking sensors, etc. It looks very young and energetic and it really is as it comes with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that churns out 130 hp of max power and generates a max torque of 155 Nm.
Talking about the other two winners here, the Honda Accord has recently got a complete makeover and was launched last month in the UAE market. On the other hand, the new Honda CR-V also meets the standards of a today's small SUV. It comes with much more luxurious interiors. The level of quality and finish is of top notch. The 2.4-litre, i-VTEC engine is extremely refined and the CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) helps to provide a smooth ride quality.
