Dubai Police is renowned all over the world for its frankly outrageous lineup of police cars that include exotics like the Bugatti Veyron, Aston Martin One-77, LaFerrari, and a handful of AMGs including the mighty SLS, in addition to many more such supercars. Recently, the police force added a new patrolling vehicle to its lineup, raising an important question: Where will you run from the Devel Sixty?
The Devel Sixty is a homegrown product, developed right here in the UAE as a recreational all-terrain vehicle. Yours for a little more than $381,000 (1.4 million dirhams), this six-wheeled monster boasts some serious kit and technology. For starters, it is powered by a massive 6.7-liter V8 turbocharged diesel engine that belts out 720 hp and an earthshaking torque figure of 1,000 Nm. This is one vehicle designed to outright obliterate sand dunes. Top speed stands at a modest 150 kph, but the catch is that the big Devel can hold its top speed on any terrain you take it over.
The Devel Sixty stands tall on six beadlock wheels shod in chunky off-road tyres. The passenger door is on the driver's side and opens upwards like gull wings. There's a set of retractable steps that pop out as soon as the passenger door is opened. The body shell is like a limousine, with six seats inside. One might argue that criminals would gladly get caught, just to be able to enter the Sixty's well-appointed interiors. You see, the interiors of the behemoth are fully customisable, and luxurious to boot. Features like heated seats, cameras, USB sockets, Bluetooth telephony/streaming audio are all standard.
Luxury is not what the Dubai Police Force added the Devel Sixty to their fleet. The huge 6x6 gets night vision assist, winches on both ends, portal axles and a 24-hour emergency contact number. The big Sixty is UAE's answer to giants like the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 and Hennessey Velociraptor, and makes a powerful statement just by its presence. Aren't all Dubai Police vehicles statements in their own right? It appears then, that the Devel Sixty is a perfect addition to the fleet.
