While we are head over heels for the upcoming electric Mustang that was announced to be in the works by Ford, a new company hailing from London might have turned the tables.
On the contrary of what you might have guessed, Charge did not use the one of the new gen 'Stangs, instead, a first-gen pony was pulled in for the project. And the spec sheet can't help us but gasp for breath.
The skilled team at Charge calls for boasts expertise from Williams F1 Team, McLaren Automotive and Jaguar-Land Rover which will merge electric drivetrains onto the license-built shells of the original Ford Mustang- both coupe and convertible.
The monstrous pony features a 64 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery under the hood that can accept 50kW of fast charging. Considering the capabilities of the car we don't know if someone would take this stallion out to test the range, which by the way goes up till 200km.
Continuing the car's traditional neck-breaking performance, the car has been built to do what Mustangs do best along with blistering performance. The car comes with an option of selectable rear- or all-wheel-drive that delivers 402bhp of power and a zooming 7500Nm of torque. Triple-digit speeds for the car is clocked under 3.1 seconds which would be on par with a modified Ferrari Portofino.
The video posted by the company gave us plenty of hints about the car's capabilities that range from choosing between all-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive to even the transmission. The supercomputer on the large screen tends to control pretty much all that we want from the car.
The UK based company has scheduled a plan to construct about 499 models of these Electric Mustangs and will also offer test drive sessions across three continents. The first ever model is set to roll out by September next year.
