While there's not a lot to infer from the one teaser shot that the company gave us, we could see that the new special edition will most likely be based on its sportiest model, the Continental GT.
Bentley's origin dates back to 1919 when its engineer W.O Bentley first registered the Bentley brand and revealed the company's first chassis at that year's London Auto Show. The deliveries of the car based on this chassis commenced the following year. However, as the company started rising to its name, the Great Depression in the latter part of the decade halted its production. Eventually, it was taken over by Rolls Royce in 1931 after being unable to pay its debts.
The Special Edition Mulsanne And the "Bentley Centenary Opus"
Ahead of this centenary model, the British brand had already dropped the wraps on the special Mulsanne that was limited to 100 units. Each of this model featured a slice of the original crankshaft that was seen in the 1930 8-litre owned by the company's founder, Walter Owen (W.O) Bentley.
Apart from that, reports suggest that every Bentley that will exit the production ramps this year will be fitted with special touches to highlight the milestone. This was alongside a massive 30kg book that depicted Bentley through the years. However, the “Bentley Centenary Opus” was not just a history book. The British brand claimed that Opus, the book's publisher, was given exclusive access to Bentley's designers, engineers and executives. Additionally, a portion of the book also looked at how the brand plans to define the premium automotive space in the next century.
