The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe has made its global debut at the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance in California. Designed and developed in Affalterbach, the second-generation AMG GT brings more practicality with enhanced driving dynamics, a new dimension concept, more cabin space and optional 2+2 seats, making the sports car more accessible for everyday use.

Technical Specs of the all-new 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupes

The all-new AMG GT Coupe will be offered in two different performance levels, both equipped with the powerful AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine. The engine is hand-assembled at the Mercedes facility in Affalterbach and follows the "One Man, One Engine" principle.

The top-of-the-line AMG GT 63 Coupe produces 585 horses and 800Nm of torque, paired with a nine-speed AMG speedshift automatic transmission. The GT 63 4MATIC accelerates from zero to 100kmph in just 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 315kmph, it has a fuel consumption of 7.0kmpl.

The AMG GT 55 Coupe delivers 476 horsepower and 700Nm of torque, mated to a nine-speed AMG speedshift automatic transmission. The GT 55 4MATIC takes 3.9 seconds to sprint from zero to 100kmph and can achieve a top speed of 295kmph, it also has a fuel consumption of 7.0kmpl.

All that speed is handled by the high-performance composite brake system with lightweight brake discs that do the job of stopping the vehicle pretty well.

The GT Coupe now comes with fully variable AMG performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, active aerodynamics, AMG active ride control suspension with active roll stabilisation and active rear-axle steering as standard. The GT also gets Multi-link front and rear axles and aluminium links all around.

Both the cars offer six AMG dynamic select drive modes - "Slippery", "Comfort", "Sport", "Sport +", "Individual" and "RACE".

These drive modes can be adjusted to match your preferred driving style or switched based on the terrain you're driving on. Both the AMGs also come with AMG Track Pace as standard. which provides data assistance on the race track including information like speed, acceleration, steering angle, brake pedal actuation etc.

The 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine in the AMG GT Coupe has been upgraded with a new oil pan, repositioned intercooler, and enhanced exhaust system that provides improvements to boost the engine's performance through higher pressure and improved airflow, resulting in impressive power across all RPMs while maintaining efficiency for reduced fuel consumption and emissions.

Additional mechanical features include an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential and an optional 1.2-inch lift for the front axle. The coupe offers flexible driving, from 50:50 all-wheel drive to pure rear-wheel drive.

Interior details of the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT Coupes

Cabin of the new AMG GT is luxurious, feature loaded and driver-focused while the carbon-fibre finishing and red accents add to the sporty feel. The dimension concept, with optional 2+2 seats, provides ample interior space. The rear seats enhance everyday usability and can accommodate individuals up to 1.5 meters in height.

The sports car comes with a fully digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch touchscreen display with MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system. It features a wide range of AMG-specific content across five display styles. Exclusive menu options like "AMG Performance" and "AMG TRACK PACE" emphasize its sporty character. It gets ambient lighting with 64 colour options.

The electrically adjustable AMG sports seats with integrated headrests combine sportiness with luxury and comfort. The performance seats provide three massage programs for comfortable long-distance drives. Finished in one-tone or two-tone colours, you can opt for a luxurious Manufaktur Nappa leather seat with diamond quilting or a sporty combo of Nappa leather seat with Microcut microfiber and colourful stitching.

The sports car gets an AMG performance steering wheel in a double-spoke design. In sync with interior trims, the standard heated steering also gets optional Nappa leather or Nappa leather/Microcut microfibre finish. The steering wheel features a sensor mat for detecting hand contact. If the driver remains inactive without holding the wheel for a while, a warning sequence starts, ultimately activating the emergency stop assistant if necessary.

Exterior details of the new Mercedes AMG GT Coupes

The Mercedes AMG GT Coupe boasts a striking design that not only embodies speed but also visually conveys its rapidity through its elongated hood, body lines, well-balanced proportions, fascinating greenhouse, substantial wheel arches, and appealing front view and other distinctive design elements.

The chassis of the sports car is made with an intelligent mix of aluminium, steel, magnesium, and composite materials which provide strength, rigidity and a lightweight frame. The aluminium shear plate under the car and integrated struts enhance stability.

The AMG GT's extended dimensional concept includes a longer wheelbase to accommodate the optional 2+2 seating configuration, while the short overhangs and sharply angled windshield give the car a compact yet powerful appearance. The new GT coupe offers the appearance of a high-performance sports vehicle that is yet suitable for daily driving.

At the front, the wide AMG-specific radiator grille along with the distinctive headlights provide a commanding look. It has a unique pair of DRLs with three light dots on each side. The lower air intake at the front adds visual width to the car's appearance. The sporty front end is further complemented by the muscular power domes on the hood. On the sides, the car features sleek surfaces and concealed door handles. The sculpted rear shoulder area, along with its fastback silhouette, enhances the vehicle's overall sports car allure.

The rear of the car exudes a sharp appearance, thanks to the active rear spoiler, tailgate, and horizontally connected LED taillights, that complement the headlight's design with its three-dimensional "light dots". The sports car comes with an expressive diffuser with integrated twin tailpipe trim, adding to the dynamic design. The AMG GT comes fitted with 20-inch wheels as standard, which can further be upgraded to 21-inch.

The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe is set to go on sale sometime in the first half of next year.

A word from Mercedes AMG Official

Michael Schiebe, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes‑AMG GmbH and Head of Business Units Mercedes-Benz G‑Class and Mercedes‑Maybach said, “The new AMG GT Coupé combines highly dynamic driving characteristics and distinctive sportiness with a high level of everyday comfort. Our new GT is clearly the top-of-the-line product in our diversified portfolio and is therefore not only AMG's youngest brand shaper but also a clear commitment to the sports car made in Affalterbach. With the new dimension concept and optional 2+2 seats, we are directly responding to the wishes of our customers.”
