2019 Chevrolet Corvette Lineup To Cost More

It might have been a rough month for the Corvette aficionados as the mid-engined C8 iterations have lately been grabbing the headline for all the wrong reasons. After news of the C8 Corvette not making it to the Detroit Auto Show next month, recent reports now suggest that the car will be delayed by at least six months citing electrical complications.
In the same breath, Chevrolet has now confirmed a price hike for the reportedly-outgoing C7 generation Corvettes ranging from $405 to $2,500. According to a report that was published by Corvette Blogger, the price of the base Corvette Stingray coupe will be bumped by not less than $405 along with the Corvette Z51 and the Corvette Grand Sports Coupe. Additionally, convertible variants of the Stingray Z51 and Grand Sport will be increased by $905.
Buyers in search of more performance from the Corvette Z06 will be set back by $1,405 for the coupe and a $1,905 for the drop-top. Apart from this, the range-topping ZR1 has been levied with the maximum price increase. The ZR1 coupes will be sold for an extra $2,000, while ZR1 convertibles see a $2,500 increase, making the Corvette ZR1 convertible a whopping $126,495 car.
On the brighter side (barely), the low-end spectrum of the Corvette range that includes the C7 Corvette will still offer 455 ponies from the 6.2-litre V8 under the hood. The new tag on the 2019 Corvette Stingray base model will now read $56,995.
Buyers preferring the 8-speed automatic transmission instead of the 7-speed manual will also suffer a price hike as the transmission would cost $1725 before compared to the $1,995 now. However, these price changes only apply to the 2019 Corvettes that are invoiced after this past Monday. Perhaps the price hikes will inspire some of the potential Corvette buyers to wait to see if the forthcoming mid-engine C8 Corvette offers better bang for the buck.
