Mercedes-Benz GLS Models Electrified And Refreshed Inside-Out
The Maybach GLS and AMG GLS versions also receive updates along with the Mercedes-Benz GLS.
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLS along with its AMG and Maybach models have received a facelift. The luxury SUV range from Mercedes has been refreshed inside-out with a few styling tweaks, new paint finishes, upgraded features interior colours, and trims. Their engines are now fully electrified, with a 48-volt hybrid motor.
Interior and Exterior Updates on the New GLS Models
All the models of the GLS family get two new paint finishes including MANUFAKTUR alpine grey in a non-metallic option and sodalite blue in a metallic finish. The GLS line-up also gets the updated MBUX infotainment system, ambient lighting and new steering wheels with touch controls on the spokes. A new interior trim option MANUFAKTUR glossy piano lacquer previously available exclusively for GLS Maybach is now available across the range of GLS SUVs.
1) Mercedes-Benz GLS
The most eye-catchy change is the new radiator grille on the Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 and GLS 580 variants, along with new taillights with three horizontal block design. It also gets new 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it gets two new leather colours namely Catalana beige and Bahia brown with glossy brown lime wood trim as standard.
2) Mercedes-AMG GLS
The AMG GLS 63 now gets an AMG emblem instead of a Mercedes star at the bonnet. The new AMG GLS can be distinguished by its new LED taillight design and its red brake callipers add to the sporty feel of the car. The 21-inch alloy wheels are available as standard while 22 and 23-inch alloys are optional.
Inside the cabin, it features AMG seats and instrument panels covered in Nappa leather with a new colour scheme in Bahia brown/black or macchiato beige/black. For the interior trim, glossy brown lime wood is now also available as an option.
3) Mercedes-Maybach GLS
The Maybach GLS 600 gets a distinguished chrome grille with ‘Maybach’ badging. Inside, the German SUV gets diamond pattern quilting on the upholstery and new seat covers which highlight the car’s luxurious cabin. The new interior colour combinations offered include MANUFAKTUR crystal white/silver grey pearl and MANUFAKTUR mahogany brown/macchiato beige. Maybach design 23‑inch forged alloy wheels with forged wheel bolt cover is available as optional.
Hybrid Engines on the New GLS Models
The GLS models are now electrified and are paired with a 48-volt electric motor. The electric motor provides a boost of 20 horsepower and 200Nm on the GLS 450, GLS 350 and GLS 450, and a boost of 22 horsepower and 250Nm on the GLS 580, Maybach GLS 600 and AMG GLS 63. All the variants get an all-wheel drive system.
1) The Mercedes-Benz GLS
The GLS 450 4MATIC is powered by a 3.0-liter petrol engine that produces 381 horsepower and 500Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 6.1 seconds and has a top speed of 250kmph.
The GLS 580 4MATIC is powered by a 4.0-liter engine that makes 517 horsepower and 730Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 250kmph.
The GLS 350d 4MATIC and GLS 450d 4MATIC both are powered by a 3.0-liter diesel engine, the former produces 269 horses and 650Nm while the latter produces 367 horses and 750Nm. The GLS 350d accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 6.7 seconds and has a top speed of 238kmph, while the GLS 450d accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 6.1 seconds and has a top speed of 250kmph.
The Mercedes-Benz GLS models also come with an off-road engineering package with 30mm (1.2-inch) more ground clearance and a transparent bonnet function that detects obstacles such as large stones or deep potholes with the help of the 360‑degree camera and shows it on the central display.
2) The Mercedes Maybach GLS and AMG
The Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC is powered by a 4-liter engine that delivers 557 horsepower and 730Nm of torque and accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 4.2 seconds and gets a top speed of 205kmph.
The 4.0-litre V8 with twin-scroll turbochargers and ISG of Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC+ delivers an output of 634 horsepower and 1,100Nm, paired with a nine-speed AMG speedshift transmission. The AMG GLS is capable of reaching from 0 to 100kmph in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 280kmph.
An intended software update and a few changes have been made to the AMG model’s air suspension and anti-roll system in order to better distinguish between comfortable and sporty driving dynamics.
New Mercedes-Benz GLS Price details
Pricing details of the GLS range are not out yet but we expect the base model GLS 450 to start around AED 359,000 and the Maybach GLS and AMG GLS to start around AED 633,500 and AED 739,100, respectively.
