McLaren To Manufacture One Model Of The Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo Hypercar
McLaren is pulling the levers to put its Ultimate Vision GT into production. However, we might not be expecting a mass production or even a special edition model.
Codenamed as the BC03, the car is specially commissioned by a loyal McLaren customer and will be built by the McLaren Special Operations (SPO).
The BC in the alphanumeric codename stands for “Bespoke Commissions” while the number denotes the number of such commissioned models made by the SPO for loyal customers.
The Ultimate Vision GT stands as the third of the kind with earlier models including X-1 Supercar that was unveiled in 2012 and the MSO R that was introduced last year.
“We confirm that BC03 is a bespoke customer commission being created by McLaren Special Operations but we cannot give any further details because the specifics of the project are confidential between MSO and its client,” a company spokesman told Motor Authority.
Reports suggest that the customer is located in the US and the dealership McLaren Newport Beach is expected to be involved. The BC03 stands as one of the lightest creations by McLaren with an extreme track orientation. The car is expected to be a bit taller calling for better ride comfort and easy to get in.
The powertrain on the new GT would consist of a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that functions in sync with an electric motor at each of the front wheels. The car clocks an output of close to 1135bhp and 1274 Nm of torque along with an all-wheel drive.
In the same breath, reports also suggest that the British auto giant is also working on a road-focussed hypercar named as the ‘Speedtail’. The model is expected to be revealed by the company in the coming week and also bills as an electric model and a spiritual successor to the F1.
