Lately, many car manufacturers are turning their attention towards eco-friendly vehicles. In order to make the world a better place to live in, electric cars have started sharing the space with the conventional ones. Then we also have hybrids that sit in the middle between electric and conventional vehicles. One such hybrid is the Hyundai Ioniq which has just won the Best Green Car of the Year Award at the 2018 Wheels COTY.

The award is given on the basis of numerous factors which include technology, drivability, value, styling, price, etc. Hyundai nailed it in many of them which helped it to win this prestigious award. Speaking about receiving this award, Mohammad Al Omari, Marketing Manager of Hyundai UAE, said, “The Hyundai Ioniq combines high-performance, elegant design, and advanced technologies while also promoting a new sustainable, eco-friendly vision for the future of mobility, and we are delighted that it has been recognised with the prestigious ‘Best Green Car of the Year’ award, which is a testament to Hyundai’s ‘unlimited sense of responsibility’, ‘respect for mankind’ and ‘realisation of possibilities’. With eco-friendly vehicles opening up an exciting new chapter in the automotive business, we are proud to be leading the change with innovative vehicles the Hyundai Ioniq.”

The body of the Hyundai Ioniq is extremely aerodynamically efficient. Hyundai has done extensive research on it to get the drag coefficient to as low as 0.24. This not only helps the car to go faster but also to be that much more efficient.

Talking about efficiency, the Ioniq has got a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 139 bhp of max power and 317 Nm of peak torque. This is coupled with a powerful electric motor and there’s also a lithium-ion polymer battery. This combination delivers the optimum performance at the max efficiency.

Being a modern hybrid, the Hyundai Ioniq had to be a looker; and it is. Its sleek appearance, with striking design accents integrated into the smoothly sculpted surfaces of the bodywork, creates a confident impression. Its interior is modern as well and boasts of features like a wide LCD panel, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and wireless charging.
