Hyundai has introduced the second addition to its high-performance N brand with the new i30 Fastback N. The car will be officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show next week and will go on sale in the following year.

Trying to keep up with the successful track marks of the regular i30 N which commenced the N brand and outperformed the company’s expectations, the i30 N Fastback has been seated in a more exclusive area of the market without any competition.

The upcoming model draws inspiration from its hatchback stablemate for its design as well as mechanical makeup. Design cues on the new i30 Fastback are similar to that of its hatchback including the aggressive bumper design, dual tailpipes and the F1 inspired triangular fog lamps that the company will be iconic to the N-lineup.

The i30 Fastback N is available with two engine variants like its hatchback sibling including a 248bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder and a 272bhp Performance model. Both the engines are mated to a six-speed manual transmission with the power being supplied to the front wheel. The company claims a 0-100kph in 6.1 seconds which is three tenths faster than the standard version.

The top performance model also sports a set of 19-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli P Zero tyres, an electronically controlled limited slip differential, adaptive dampers as well as a sports exhaust system.
Reports suggest that the i30 Fastback N was not originally in the company’s schedule but was introduced due to the success of its sibling in the same segment.

“We offer the Fastback as a more elegance car, people who like sophistication. And the icing in the cake is the Fastback N – where we can combine elegance with the performance” said Thomas Burkle, chief designer at Hyundai Europe told Auto Express. “We offer the Fastback as a more elegance car, people who like sophistication.
