2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class
This 'big-daddy of them all' Mercedes-Benz has to be on top of this list. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, or the G-Wagon, is essentially a nearly half a century old design that has somehow managed to look the same while getting major updates under the skin with each passing generation. The top brass at Mercedes-Benz would have killed it off long ago, except for one thing that made them change their mind, the unquestionable love that's showered on the G-Class in the UAE.
The Gelandewagen (G-Wagon, get it?) sells in UAE in such huge numbers, that Mercedes-Benz simply had to keep producing more of these. In addition to the base G500 V8 model which is the lowest spec available in the UAE, Mercedes-Benz also sells the G63 and the near discontinued G65 AMG, with the latter sporting a massive 6.0-liter V12 powerhouse under its hood. The beloved Gelandewagen just received a major upgrade both on the outside and the inside and will be available in the UAE soon. The outgoing generation is still on sale and can be yours starting from AED 589,800 right up to AED 1,155,000. Expect the new model to be sold at a premium though when it lands on our shores.
2018 Land Rover Range Rover
Never has a model outgrown its brand name more spectacularly than the Range Rover. The big luxury SUV stands apart from the entire Land Rover lineup, carving its own model range separately. Land Rover has plunked the all-new 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine under the Range Rover's hood. Aside from a quick turn of speed, the Range Rover boasts of one of the most sophisticated off-road riding and four-wheel drive aids ever installed on an SUV.
How many of them actually get used off-road is a whole different discussion. To name a few, it comes with features like Terrain Response 2, switchable drive ratios, lockable differentials, terrain mapping by radar and the list just goes on and on. It's not short on creature comforts as well, with all the occupants cocooned in their own opulent, luxuriously upholstered space. The 2018 Range Rover starts from AED 436,800.
2018 Lexus LX570
Currently the most expensive product in Lexus's lineup, the LX570 is a true-blue SUV in the sense that it still employs the age-old body-on-ladder construction. Despite the chassis which is shared with the legendary Land Cruiser 200 series, and the fact that it weighs about three tons, the LX570 is one brisk performer, quick on its feet. If you're looking for creature comforts, driving aids, drivetrain technology and more, Lexus has thrown every gadget and goodies it has into this car.
The end result is this spectacular tank of a luxury SUV that will take you to the ends of the earth. The LX570 looks intimidating with the signature spindle grille, boxy yet modern design and well-laid out interiors. The 2018 LX570 is available in three trims in the UAE, namely Platinum, Premier, and Prestige. The Premier trim costs AED 424,500, with the range-topping Platinum asking for AED 472,500.
2018 Infiniti QX80
Nissan's luxury cousin, Infiniti sure does know how to make SUVs that have a massive street presence. Sharing underpinnings with the iconic Nissan Patrol, the QX80 is the biggest SUV in Infiniti's lineup and it has the brawn to match this moniker. Longer even than the Lexus LX570, the big QX80 is powered by a 5.6-liter V8 engine that pushes out 400hp and 600Nm. Infiniti has thrown all the technology it has at the QX80, loading the flagship to the gills.
For customers who need lots of luggage space and the ability to carry many passengers over long distances, the Infiniti QX80 fits the bill perfectly. UAE prices for the QX80 start from AED 340,700 for the base Excellence trim, while the top-of-the-line Luxury variant costs AED 342,900.
2018 GMC Yukon Denali
Another range-topper in this list, the GMC Yukon Denali is the flagship for the brand and the most expensive model in its lineup. It stays true to the age old American tradition of “there's no-replacement-for-displacement”, and comes with a massive 6.2-liter V8 petrol engine under the hood, generating 420hp and 624Nm. It comes standard with a lot of creature comforts to make for an intelligent, comfortable and a spacious luxury SUV.
With a huge fuel tank and the capacity to seat seven adults in total comfort and style, the Yukon is a true-blue American SUV designed to chew up miles day after day. The Yukon Denali is also the highest selling vehicle for GMC and has been one of the most popular choices in the UAE's premium SUV segment. With beefy, muscular design, a big-bore V8, and the luggage and seating capacity of a jumbo jet, the Yukon defines the word massive. UAE prices for the Yukon start from AED 223,900 with the Denali coming in for AED 319,700.
