Parking Spaces In Dubai: All You Need To Know

Parking has been an uncalled hassle for the residents of Dubai. However, you have come to the right place if you are new in town and don't want your car to be fined for parking in the wrong space.
Under the new parking system, all parking zoned fall into three categories: commercial, non-commercial and special areas.

1) Commercial

a) Zone A


This zone includes all roadside parking in commercial areas. Drivers with seasonal parking cars for Zone A can avail parking spaces for Zones A, B, C and D as well.
Tariff: Per hour: AED 4
Two hours: AED 8
Three hours: AED 12
Four hours: AED 16
Timings: 8 am to 10 pm.

b) Zone B


This zone includes commercial zones as well and drivers having seasonal cards for this parking zone can use zones B and D.
Tariff: Per hour: AED 3
Two hours: AED 6
Three hours: AED 8
Four hours: AED 12
Five hours: AED 15
24 hours: AED 20
Timings: 8 am to 10 pm.

2) Non-Commercial Zones


c) Zone C


Zone C has added the latest parking zones where motorists can park their cars on the roadside in non-commercial areas. Zones such as these have been marked with new signboards that have been set up.
Tariff: Per hour: AED 2
Two hours: AED 5
Three hours: AED 8
Four hours: AED 11
Timings: 8 am to 10 pm.

d) Zone D


Zone D coves all parking lots in non-commercial areas. This can be found out with the help of recently put signboards.
Tariff: Per hour: AED 2
Two hours: AED 5
Three hours: AED 8
24 hours: AED 10
Timings: 8 am to 10 pm.
3) Special Areas

e) Zone E


With the Deira Fish market that was relocated, Zone E which used to be the dedicated parking code for the place is now called Waterfront Market featuring free underground parking and payable public parking.

f) Zone F


This is the dedicated parking code for parking in Tecom areas.
Tariff: Per hour: AED 2
Two hours: AED 5
Three hours: AED 8
Four hours: AED 11
Timings: 8 am to 6 pm

g) Zone G


This zone includes paid parking areas in Downtown Dubai and is not affected by tariff changes.
Timing: 8am to 10pm.

Parking Cards


Motorists can avail seasonal parking cards for the aforementioned zones. This includes:
Roadside Parking: The new rates for a seasonal card for roadside parking are AED 1,400 for three months, AED 2,500 for six months and AED 4,500 for a year.
Parking lots: The new rates for seasonal parking cards for parking lots are AED 700 for three months, AED 1,300 for six months and AED 2,500 for a year.

Which Areas Falls In Each Category?

The new parking tariff system calls for categorisation of parking zones into two with their respective rates.

Category One


In Deira, it includes Abu Hail, Hor Al Anz, Al Baraha, Al Muteena, Al Khabaisi, Al Muraqqabat, Riqqa Al Buteen, Port Saeed, Al Riqqa, Naif, Ayal Nasir, Deira Fish Market, Al Ras and Al Buteen.
On the Bur Dubai side, areas like Al Shindagha, Al Souq Al Kabeer, Al Hamriya, Umm Hurair 1,2, Oud Metha, Al Karama, Al Mankhool, Al Raffa, Al Hudaiba, Al Kifaf, 2nd December street, and the sector between Dubai World Trade Centre and Interchange One on Shaikh Zayed Road fall under category one.
Additionally, areas such as Jumeirah Beach Residence and the JBR Walk, as well as 308th street and Al Saada street, parallel to Shaikh Zayed Road between Dubai World Trade Centre and Interchange One are also included in Category One.

Category Two

This category includes the rest of Dubai with the same rates as before. However, Tariff has increased to AED 5 per hour from AED 3 per hour for RTA multi-storey parking lots.

How Shall I Pay For Parking?


There are six modes of payment for parking in Dubai
1. Coins: A parking ticket can be bought using coins at the nearest paid parking machine.
2. Prepaid card: A pre-paid parking cards in denominations of AED 30 and AED 100 can be bought from supermarkets and grocery stores. The ticket amount is deducted from the balance on the card when inserted into its respective slot on the machine.
3. Seasonal parking cards Seasonal parking cards are available in different values and periods of validity. Cards fall into A, B and T categories and are available in three-month, six-month and annual validity.
4. Nol Card: Use your Nol card to buy your parking ticket and the amount will be deducted from the card balance.
5. Smart Parking: A free app for parking, Smart Parking charges no additional cost for transactions done on the app.

Parking Fines in Dubai

1. Parking illegally AED 500
2. Parking in loading and offloading areas AED 200
3. Parking on the left-hand shoulder of the road in prohibited areas AED 1000
4. Parking without securing the car AED 500
5. Parking behind vehicles and blocking their movement AED 500
6. Parking in fire hydrant places, spaces allocated for people with special needs and ambulance parking AED 1000.
