Nissan has come up with a new electric concept vehicle which is called the Leaf Nismo. This will be showcased at the upcoming 2017 Tokyo Motor Show by the end of this month.
It wouldn't be wrong calling the Leaf Nismo a sportier version of the regular Leaf. Of course, to make that happen Nissan had to do certain modifications. The Leaf Nismo, as you can see in the pictures, has got an upgraded front bumper with a larger mesh. It is small touch but adds a slight sportiness to the car. From the side, the Nismo looks similar to the regular Leaf except having Nissan branded alloy wheels. Also, the slightly lower height of the car makes it look sportier.
Then comes the rear end of the Leaf Nismo. The diffuser looks pretty cool. It also has a centrally located brake light, just like we see on the F1 cars. Okay, that was just for visual comparison and nothing else. Other than that, a Nismo branding on the back is all we get.
The Nissan Leaf Nismo concept gets similar interior design as of the regular Leaf. Not much to talk about here. We only see a new red accent around AC vents and Nismo logo on start button as new additions.
The hot topic about the Nismo is its performance. Nissan claims that the concept car has got an updated powertrain which has 38 percent more power and 26 percent more torque than the regular Leaf. Also, being a hot hatch and performance oriented electric vehicle, the Nismo has got some computer tuning that will make sure that the acceleration is available through the entire rev range. To complement the performance, it also has tuned suspension and better grippy tyres.
Nissan says that it will showcase the Leaf Nismo concept at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show and will get feedback on the same. It will later analyse it and then decide whether the car goes into production or not. Guess, we'll have to wait to see a proper electric hot hatch.
