On the year of Italian marque's 60th anniversary, Automobili Lamborghini has introduced the new Revuelto, the first super sports V12 hybrid plug-in HPEV (High-Performance Electrified Vehicle), the Aventador successor was codenamed LB744 earlier. The 'Revuelto' is named after a Spanish bull, however, the name in Spanish also translates to 'scrambled' or 'mixed up'.
Technical specs of the Lamborghini Revuelto V12 Hybrid
The Lamborghini Revuelto HPEV (High-Performance Electrified Vehicle) sets a new benchmark in terms of performance and driving pleasure as its plug-in hybrid V12 engine combined with three electric motors churns out 1,001 horsepower. The Hybrid supercar comes with a 3.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack that powers the electric motors.
The new Revuelto is powered by the new L545 naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine that produces 825 horsepower and 725Nm of torque, mated with three electric motors that produce 350Nm of torque. The L545 engine on the Revuelto is the lightest and most powerful 12-cylinder engine ever made by Lamborghini. The new V12 engine is also rotated through 180 degrees compared to the Aventador layout. It also gets an eight-speed double-clutch gearbox that makes its debut for the first time in a Lamborghini.
The new Revuelto accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in just 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of more than 350kmph. Thanks to the four-wheel drive layout available also in fully-electric drive mode, ensuring the Revuelto expresses its amplified qualities both on track and in daily driving.
The front structure of the car is made with forged carbon-fibre composites. The Hybrid Revuelto uses carbon fibre as the primary structural component, not only for the monocoque frame but also for various other parts of the bodywork because of which the new car has the best power-to-weight ratio in Lamborghini's history of 564.9bhp per tonne.
Interior details of the Plug-in Hybrid Revuelto
The dashboard inside the cabin features a pronounced carbon-fibre profile, with a “space-ship” design. The Revuelto features three digital screens including a 12.3-inch digital cockpit instrument cluster, an 8.4-inch vertical touch screen at the centre and a 9.1-inch display on the passenger's side. Revuelto introduced the "swipe" feature allowing users to switch between applications and information using hand movements.
The steering wheel of the vehicle draws inspiration from motorsports and the Essenza SCV12's experience. The four rotors located on the spokes are used for selecting among the 13 driving modes, the lifting system, and the rear wing tilt. The cockpit and controls have an intuitive design that allows the driver to activate functions using buttons while maintaining a good grip on the wheel.
The car's roof design has 26mm more headroom than the Aventador Ultimae, and the new monofuselage offers 84mm more legroom allowing additional space behind the seats for luggage up to the size of a golf bag. Moreover, there are storage spaces beneath the centre dashboard, in spaces between the seats, and under the front hood, which can accommodate two cabin trolleys. It also gets a cup holder on the passenger's side dashboard.
Lamborghini's Revuelto also brings a complete Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that includes cameras, radar, and sensors for improved safety and daily driving. Functions include Active Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control for regulating speed and distance from other vehicles.
Exterior design of the Revuelto Hybrid Supercar
The exterior of the Revuelto reflects the Lamborghini DNA yet establishes a totally new visual language. The design is inspired by aerospace elements and features sculpted surfaces surrounded by two lines that start from the front and encircle the engine and cabin before sloping down to the hexagonal-shaped centre-mounted exhausts at the back.
At the front, the Revuelto features an aerodynamic shark nose design along with a wide carbon-fibre hood and Y-shaped daytime running lights. Airflow is channelled through side fins behind the front wheel arches, and the doors' pronounced concavities lead to sharp-edged side air intakes. The roof provides more headroom and better aerodynamics.
Revuelto's rear design is a tribute to the hybrid V12 engine, the car's mechanical heart is highlighted by its totally exposed longitudinal engine design, which serves as a visual link to the double hexagonal exhaust and geometrically structured wing that surround it.
The Potenza Sport tyres come in two mixed fitments with run-flat technology, enabling users to continue driving safely for at least 80km at 80kmph, even after a puncture at 0 bar pressure. The front and rear tyre sizes for the first fitment are 265/35 ZRF20 and 345/30 ZRF21, respectively, while the front and rear tyre sizes for the second fitment are 265/30 ZRF21 and 355/25 ZRF22.
The Lamborghini's hybrid supercar is available in a range of 400 bodywork colours offered together with many other customization options.
A word from the Lamborghini Officials
Rouven Mohr, Chief Technical Officer at Lamborghini commented, “With Revuelto we take the experience of driving a Lamborghini to a superior level. Revuelto takes a significant step forward in terms of reactivity and responsiveness to ensure the most emotive and natural driving in every environment. Revuelto is a car delivering the highest performance but our objective right from the start was to confirm it at the very summit of driving emotions.”
Mitja Borkert, Head of Design at Lamborghini said, “The Revuelto is adrenaline made visible. The design of the new Lamborghini Revuelto opens a fascinating door towards the future of our unique design language. At first sight, Revuelto is an intriguing next-generation Lamborghini V12, with all lines embracing the monocoque and celebrating a free view towards the V12 HPEV powertrain.
He added, “The unique and recognizable Y-shape light signature is significant in this new era of our most iconic flagship car, and the interior is a dramatic leap forward in defining the new design direction of Lamborghini. Our philosophy of "feel like a pilot" is vivid and visible in every detail: the driver and passenger are deeply integrated into the very lightweight Y-shape design of the dashboard and centre console, replicating the sensations of being in a race car but with a perfect intuitive balance between digital and physical controls.”
