Jeep has been caught once again testing its upcoming Scrambler. It is basically a Wrangler Unlimited in a pickup avatar. The latest spy shots still have camouflage all around. We could see only a small portion of the tailgate.
The tailgate seems to have a conventional opening mechanism. Jeep would avoid using any sophisticated and complicated structure to open and close the tailgate. As of now, it is not disclosed whether there would be a two-door variant or not. Everything else in the spy shots isn't clearly visible.
The Scrambler or the Jeep Pickup is going to borrow the engine from the Wrangler. It is a 3.6-liter V6 unit which produces 285 horses and 353 Nm of torque. There's another engine option - a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged unit which churns out 270 bhp and 400 Nm. We are likely to get both 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission available with both the engine options.
It is being speculated that Jeep would launch the Scrambler sometime during April next year. The final production model will be revealed before that, perhaps at the 2018 LA Auto Show.
