A survey conducted by Audi Abu Dhabi reveals that 6 out of 10 people (60 per cent) are considering buying a new car in the UAE in the holy month of Ramadan. The survey explored consumer sentiment towards new car purchases and electric vehicle (EV) adoption ahead of what is considered a peak season for car purchases in the middle east region.
As of now, out of the 60 per cent of people who are looking to purchase a vehicle, a solid 33 per cent wants to buy petrol cars while 13 per cent are considering an EV and 14 per cent are still undecided on what kind of car to buy.
Even though buying EVs now is still a niche, the survey revealed a growing number of consumers (52 per cent) in the UAE are eager to buy an EV as their next car or in the coming three years. Almost half of the respondents expressed that they may purchase an EV if certain concerns related to EV ownership are addressed, such as improved charging infrastructure (28 per cent) and understanding how much the total cost of ownership of EVs actually is (24 per cent).
