The 2027 Pajero has no UAE price yet. Here is what its projected AED 190,000 to AED 260,000 bracket buys today from Toyota, Nissan, GWM, Jetour and BAIC.

2027 Mitsubishi Pajero vs Its Closest UAE Rivals: What the Projected Bracket Actually Buys: cover image

Mitsubishi has not announced a UAE price for the 2027 Pajero. Its projected AED 190,000 to AED 260,000 bracket already buys five of six Land Cruiser Prado trims, an entry Patrol or Land Cruiser, four Tank 500 trims, a Tank 700 or a BAIC BJ80.

Quick Answer

There is a limit to how far this comparison can go, and it is worth stating before the table rather than after it. Mitsubishi has published the 2027 Pajero's platform, its driveline and one engine. It has not published a UAE price, a power figure, a kerb weight, a fuel-consumption figure or a seat count. A bracket of AED 190,000 to AED 260,000 has been projected, but a projection is not a price.

So this is not a price comparison, because one of the cars has no price. It is the more useful question a buyer can actually act on today: if that bracket turns out to be right, what is already sitting in it, and on which measurements does the Pajero's published engineering differ?

The eight cars below were selected by measurement, not by opinion. Every model in our catalogue whose UAE price range overlaps AED 190,000 to AED 260,000 and which offers at least one four-wheel-drive trim is here. Nothing was added because it felt like a rival and nothing was dropped because it did not.

Prices are our catalogue's list prices. They exclude 5 per cent VAT and registration, so the AED 199,900 Prado is AED 209,895 before you have registered it, and the AED 257,250 BJ80 is AED 270,112.50.

Three things fall out of that table that are worth more than the individual numbers.

The Prado is the car the projection actually collides with. Five of its six trims sit inside the bracket, from the TXR at AED 199,900 to the two ADV trims at AED 254,900. No other model in the group has more than four. If the AED 190,000 to AED 260,000 projection is close, the Pajero is not landing near the Prado; it is landing on top of it, across almost the whole ladder.

The Land Cruiser and the Patrol only reach in at the bottom rung. One trim each: the Land Cruiser 4.0L EXR at AED 239,900 and the Patrol XE at AED 239,900. Both cars run to well over AED 400,000 at the top. Reading either as a bracket rival means reading its entry trim, not the car people picture.

The highest published power and torque figures in the group belong to the GWM Tank 700. Its single trim publishes 516 hp and 800 Nm at AED 234,900, ahead of the Patrol's 495 hp and the Land Cruiser hybrid's 790 Nm, and the Tank 500 publishes 348 hp and 500 Nm with four trims inside the bracket. Whether those figures matter to you depends entirely on what you tow and where you drive, and no figure in this table tells you how a car rides.

Where the Pajero Differs on Paper

Mitsubishi has published enough to say what is genuinely different, and not much more.

It is a diesel, and in this group that is close to unique. Across the 42 priced trims of the eight cars above, the split is 34 petrol, five hybrid and three plug-in hybrid. Not one is a diesel. Filter the whole catalogue by fuel and 21 model rows with a 2025 or newer year come back as diesel, against 514 petrol, and only five of the 21 are SUVs. If a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel with 480 Nm is what you want in this price range, the field is currently very small.

The chassis went backwards on purpose. The fifth-generation Pajero drops the monocoque shell the third and fourth generations used and returns to a separate heavy-duty ladder frame, with the independent rear replaced by a five-link rigid live axle on coils. Published dimensions are a 2,870 mm wheelbase, 4,920 x 1,925 x 1,910 mm overall, 230 mm of ground clearance on 20-inch alloys, and approach, breakover and departure angles of 30.4, 22.6 and 25.8 degrees.

The driveline pairing is new to the nameplate. Super Select 4WD-II keeps its four modes, including a 2H setting that disconnects the front axle on the highway and a 4HLc setting that locks the centre differential to a mechanical 50:50. What is new is that it is now paired with S-AWC, the torque-vectoring system Mitsubishi developed on the Lancer Evolution, with seven terrain modes including a Sand setting that relaxes traction-control intervention.

One engine was shown, and the V6 petrols are gone. The 3.5 and 3.8-litre 6G75 V6 petrol engines are not part of this platform. The frame was designed for longitudinal electrification and Mitsubishi's roadmap points to a petrol plug-in hybrid for petrol-dominant markets including the GCC, but no GCC powertrain has been confirmed. Middle East distribution is stated for fiscal 2027.

Below the Bracket

If the projection turns out high, the same measurement run at a lower band changes the answer completely. These are the four-wheel-drive options our catalogue lists under AED 190,000:

ModelUAE price (AED)EnginePower / torque (hp / Nm)DriveSeats

2026 Toyota Land Cruiser 70177,900 to 187,9004.0L V6 petrol228 / 3604WD5

Mitsubishi's own Montero Sport is worth noticing here. It is the nameplate that stayed on sale in this region while the Pajero was away, it is a 3.0-litre V6 with seven seats, and its top 4WD trim is AED 135,000. If the projected bracket holds, a buyer waiting for the Pajero is waiting for a car that starts well above the Mitsubishi 4x4 already in the showroom.

What This Means for UAE Drivers

Do the down-payment arithmetic before the price list appears. UAE lenders require a minimum 20 per cent down payment on a car loan, the maximum tenure is 60 months, and your total debt repayments cannot exceed 50 per cent of gross monthly income. On the projected bracket that is AED 38,000 to AED 52,000 in cash up front, financing AED 152,000 to AED 208,000. Spread over the full 60 months, the principal alone is AED 2,533 to AED 3,467 a month before any profit rate is added. Processing is typically 1.05 per cent of the loan capped at AED 2,500 plus VAT. Those are the constraints a projected price has to fit inside, and they apply equally to every car in both tables.

Waiting has a cost you can price. Middle East distribution is stated for fiscal 2027, which is a window, not a date. Every car in the first table can be driven this week. If you need a seven-seat four-wheel drive before the Pajero's price list exists, the honest comparison is not Pajero against Prado; it is a Prado you can register now against a Pajero whose price nobody outside Mitsubishi knows.

Ask the same three questions of every badge in both tables. What does the GCC warranty cover, in writing, and for how many years or kilometres? What do the first three scheduled services cost? Where is your nearest authorised workshop for that brand? We hold the UAE importer for some of these brands and not others: Mitsubishi is handled by Al Habtoor Motors, Toyota by Al-Futtaim Motors, Nissan by AW Rostamani (Arabian Automobiles), and Ford by Al Tayer Motors. We do not hold a verified UAE importer for GWM, Jetour or BAIC, so ask the brand directly rather than taking a figure from us. Those questions are worth asking of every car ever sold, and they are worth asking before a launch rather than after one.

Whatever you buy, the rules and the standing costs are the same. Window tint is capped at 50 per cent with no windscreen tint beyond a 15 cm sunstrip, and the penalty is an AED 1,500 fine with no black points. Any powertrain change, chassis alteration or suspension lift beyond the permitted limit needs prior approval, and unapproved work is a registration problem rather than a matter of taste. The annual vehicle test costs AED 170 including fees, tyres must have at least 1.6 mm of tread and must not be more than five years old from the DOT date code, and registration renewal for a light private vehicle is AED 350. Agency-repair cover on a comprehensive policy typically runs for the first three to five years from registration and carries a premium uplift, which is worth pricing at the same time as the car.

Treat every figure here as dated. The Pajero's row says "Not officially announced" three times because Mitsubishi has published a torque figure for it and nothing else. The rest are list prices read from our catalogue on the day this was published, and prices in this segment move. Confirm the figure against the dealer's current price list before you sign anything.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the 2027 Pajero cost more than a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in the UAE?

Nobody outside Mitsubishi knows, because no UAE price has been announced. The projected AED 190,000 to AED 260,000 bracket overlaps five of the Prado's six trims, which run from AED 199,900 to AED 264,900. If the projection is accurate the two cars share almost the same price ladder, but a projection is not a price.

What can I buy in the UAE today for the Pajero's projected price?

In the AED 190,000 to AED 260,000 band our catalogue lists five of six Land Cruiser Prado trims, the Land Cruiser 4.0L EXR at AED 239,900, the Nissan Patrol XE at AED 239,900, two Nissan Pathfinder 4WD trims, four GWM Tank 500 trims, the GWM Tank 700 at AED 234,900, two Jetour G700 plug-in hybrids and the BAIC BJ80 at AED 257,250.

Which Chinese SUVs compete with the 2027 Pajero in the UAE?

On price and four-wheel drive, four fall inside the projected bracket: the GWM Tank 500 at AED 149,900 to AED 214,900, the GWM Tank 700 at AED 234,900, the Jetour G700 at AED 179,000 to AED 229,000 and the BAIC BJ80 at AED 257,250. Below the bracket sit the Tank 300, the Jetour T2, the Haval H9 and the BAIC BJ40 Plus.

Is the new Pajero a diesel, and do its rivals offer one?

Mitsubishi showed one powertrain, a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel producing 480 Nm through an eight-speed automatic. Among the 42 priced trims of the eight cars in its projected bracket, none is a diesel. Across the whole catalogue only five SUVs with a 2025 or newer year are listed as diesel, and four of those five are priced well below this bracket.

How much deposit do I need for an SUV in this price range?

UAE lenders require a minimum 20 per cent down payment, so AED 38,000 to AED 52,000 in cash across the projected bracket. The maximum tenure is 60 months and your total debt repayments cannot exceed 50 per cent of gross monthly income. Bank processing is typically 1.05 per cent of the loan, capped at AED 2,500 plus VAT.
