In the olden days, Lotus had cars that were rudimentary in their finishing with poorly done interiors and rough around the edges design lacking comfort. However, that perspective could change with the Lotus Exige which in its latest iteration even comes with an automatic gearbox. The interior design or the lack of it was not because Lotus was ignorant of their buyers but because they designed pure sports cars to whom the interior design was not the priority as light weight is.
This is why their focus was on making lightest and the sportiest cars around in the past and now the shift is to also focus on interior quality which is a positive step forward. The Lotus uses the 3.5L V6 engine from the Toyota Aurion but in this car it is supercharged and that boosts the power to 344hp and 400Nm of torque and will go from zilch to 100kmph in 3.9 seconds in the 6-speed automatic gearbox. Also, the steering is not electrically assisted which means it is direct and gives excellent feedback but you have to hold it with both hands all the time.
This ensures an exciting drive on this car. The interiors of this car are also very well made with soft touches on the cabin and a decently spaced car as well. The car is also livable on the street, despite its firm setup, it is manageable on the road. Compared to some of the cars that it goes up against, this car is a proper sports car that is driver oriented and more value for money than the other cars that are fancy with auto gearboxes and assisted steering systems.
