2017 was a significant year for the Lincoln brand as it launched its flagship sedan, the Continental.
The resurrection of the Continental name was chosen as the original Continental of circa 1930s, had a bold exterior design meant to compete with the sleek European cars of the time.
In its new avatar, Lincoln has benchmarked the best from Europe and Asia, aiming to rival them in all departments – especially on looks, power deliver, quietness and space.
As planned, Lincoln engineers have delivered all of those claims in its large luxury Continental sedan.
With its European-inspired style and proportion, every trim level comes with exceptional rear legroom and noise insulation. To handle power, three engine options are available: A 305hp 3.7-litre V6 on the base Premiere and Select trims followed by a turbocharged 335hp 2.7-litre V6 on the Select and standard on the lower trims of Reserve and top-level Black Label trims. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, and can be equipped in either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive configurations.
For power hungry customers, Lincoln offers high output 400hp from a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 in the Reserve and Black Label trims. Torque-vectoring AWD system from Ford Focus RS is also part of the performance kit.
Among other standard features on the base Premiere models are 18-inch alloy wheels, power-folding side mirrors with puddle lamps, front and rear parking sensors and rearview camera. Comfort features include Dual-zone climate control, heated 10-way power-adjustable front seats, leatherette upholstery, 60/40-split rear seats and push-button start. Ford’s Sync 3 system comes with an 8-inch touchscreen interface, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, satellite radio and a 10-speaker stereo.
