Kia enters the performance car segment with its first ever turbo charged car in the new Kia Cerato Koup. Never before was such performance ever seen coming from this South Korean brand which is a bit of a shocker and raises some expectations about this car. All this hyped performance comes from a 1.6L turbocharged petrol unit that puts a Kia first 201hp and a whopping 265Nm of torque. This helps the Kia Cerato Koup to spring from 0 to 100kmph in less than 8 seconds which is impressive for a Kia brand. This engine is the highlight of this car.
You get a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission offering a linear delivery of power throughout the rev range. Kia claims that this is more of a GT car than a full on a sports car and this reflects in the way the car handles in the corners. The steering is light offering a fairly decent ride quality for a performance orientated car. It is a delightful car to drive on a twisty section road making it immense fun.
You get paddle shifters in the automatic and they do a good job of helping to hold the revs longer. Complementing the performance is a sporty exterior design with typical Kia grill sleeker than before offering a more aggressive stance and sharper lines and an aggressively done rear end completes the design. The front wheel drive system along with traction control put power to the ground adequately without too much drama letting you have fun without much struggle.
