The all-new Ford Fusion was introduced sometime in 2014, and an EcoBoost engine made its appearance on the Fusion in 2015. The Fusion has always been a very handsome looking car and the large Aston Martin-esque grill makes the Fusion look very luxurious and sporty too. The LED detailing in the tail lamps, the strong shoulder line that extends all the way from the headlamps to the tail lamps, the coupe-ish roofline that flows smoothly into the boot, all add to the sporty essence of the design.
The interior design is a little too staid and predictable, but Ford has chosen the right materials and the interiors certainly feel well put together. All the seats are large and comfortable, and the rear seat space can best be termed as adequate, and is definitely not class-leading.
The Fusion has two engine options – the 2.5L iVCT engine which outs out 168.6HP and 237Nm of torque. The other engine option is the 2.0L EcoBoost engine which has an impressive 236.7HP and 368Nm of twisting force – thanks to GDI and forced induction. Both these engines come with a smooth shifting 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2.5L engine is available on the S & SE variants of the Fusion, while one can choose between the 2.5L engine and 2.0L EcoBoost on the SE variant. The flagship Titanium variant comes only with the EcoBoost engine. Thanks to a very sporty suspension setup, the Fusion remains one of the nicest cars to drive in its segment. Even ride quality is very compliant and road noise is well controlled inside the cabin too – making the Fusion a quiet and comfortable car to be driven in too.
All three variants come with a long list of standard safety features including ABS with EBD, dual front airbags along with front side and curtain airbags and a driver’s knee airbag too. Also standard are ISO-FIX child seat anchors, ESP and hill-start assist too. There is also an optional safety pack that adds a lot of active safety features to make the Fusion a well-equipped and safe car.
