F-150 is a legendary nameplate in the US, and it has been the best seller for decades now. Ford decided to raise the bar further up, and hence went in for aluminium body panels to reduce weight. The 2015 F-150 has a blocky front face, but still is extremely futuristic and makes a style statement wherever it goes. There are innumerable options with regards to styling and personalization with a wide choice of finishes and design options to choose from.
On the inside, there is abundance of space all through the cabin, and the long list of available gadgetry and equipment options give a very futuristic and equipment-laden interior. However, being a full-sized truck, most of the plastic surfaces are hard to touch and the overall feel from the interior is not too luxurious, but they exude a rugged and built-to-last feel.
There are three engines on offer – a 3.5L V6 with Ti-VCT that is good for 292HP and 339Nm of twisting force –which comes standard on the lower variants, and then there is a 5.0L V8 Ti-VCT engine that puts out 385HP and a formidable 529Nm of torque on the mid variants, there is also a 3.5L V6 engine which generates 365HP and 569Nm of torque. While the Ti-VCT engines come mated with a 6-speed transmission and the EcoBoost engine option comes mated with a brilliant and responsive 10-speed AT that further improves the performance of the F-150. Despite the size and the long wheelbase, the F-150’s handling is fairly stable, with enough grip around corners at average speeds, however at higher speeds the truck does not inspire too much confidence. The ride too is smooth and fairly quiet, even at highway speeds – making the F-150 a decent highway cruiser.
