The four-seater GTC4Lusso is the official successor to the Ferrari FF which itself was the successor of the 612 Scaglietti grand tourer. Designed at the Ferrari Styling Centre in Italy, it is a 3-door Shooting Brake styled car with front-mid mounted engine. Interestingly, this is the first model from Modena to be offered with two engines – a 6.3-litre V12 and a turbocharged 3.9-litre V8.
Market introduction of the AWD GTC4 Lusso took place in 2016 followed by rear-wheel drive GTC Lusso T a year later.
Ferrari insists that the GTC4Lusso is a further refinement of the shooting-brake coupe, aptly reinterpreted with an extremely streamlined, tapered shape that gives it an almost fastback-like silhouette and a host of sophisticated engineering solutions.
The rear features the return Ferrari’s signature Quad Circular Rear Lights (last seen on the Ferrari F430) and the front appears wider, lower and definitely more aggressive than the FF.
Besides a new steering wheel is new with vastly improved ergonomics including the five-mode -mounted manettino, its interior contains a Dual Cockpit Concept Design, separating the driver cockpit and passenger cockpit by a central divider. A new infotainment system comes with 10.25-inch LCD screen and Bluetooth with audio streaming capabilities. For all practical purposes there’s a 450-litre boot which can be almost doubled by folding the rear split seats.
The 6.3-litre naturally aspirated twelve-cylinder engine offers its peak power of 681hp at 8,000rpm and runs into the limiter at 8,250rpm. Power is sent to the wheels via seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle gearbox.
Ferrari claims a top speed of 335 km/h (which is same as the FF), and a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 3.4 seconds for this model.
The car uses an improved version (dubbed 4RM Evo) of Ferrari’s patented four-wheel drive system introduced on the FF, integrated with four-wheel steering into 4RM-S.
The Magneride adjustable dampers offer various settings from firm to rock hard to Sport.
