The Camry and Avalon have now throttled past its old boring reputation. Last week, Toyota had teased the two wearing the gowned in a performance attire with red brake callipers and race tires.

Now, revealed in full, the duo looks much meaner than what we had expected. And it gets a freaking wing. Both the models which have been humbled by the TRD treatment are ‘track-tuned’ to suit your daily commute.

Toyota utilised the most engaging of the current Camrys, the XSE to undergo the scalpel of its performance division. The underbody is now thicker calling for increased torsional rigidity. The TRD suspension is set for a stiffer feedback with unique coil springs lowering both the cars by 0.6inch. This has, in turn, contributed to an increase in the roll stiffness of 44 per cent in the front and 66 per cent at the rear.

The front brake rotors are up to 0.9inch larger along with the dual piston callipers that are fitted to provide a direct feedback on the road as well as on the track. Bridgestone Potenza summer tires size 235/40/19 wrap matte black 19-inch wheels — the wheels are three pounds lighter at each corner compared to the XSE wheels.

The new engine note is music to the ears as well. The duo now comes with TRD Catback exhaust systems so that you can hear the 3.5-litre V6 growl from inside the cabin. Among the things that have been retained from the XSE is the powertrain which means the new 301bhp yielding car that is mated to the eight-speed auto will be supplying the juice to the front wheels.

The looks are as pleasing as the new spec sheet. Sort of like a puberty gone right situation. Toyota went all in on TRD. The two-tone paint scheme, black and red body kit, rear diffuser, large red callipers, a weird two-tiered wing on the Camry.

Inside the cabin, Black seats are accented by red lines and shapes everywhere like TRD emblazoned headrests and a TRD embossed gear shift. The leather-wrapped steering wheel has red stitching, along with the dash and TRD floor mats.
