Despite there being a global image of the UAE being full of cars like the Cadillac Escalade, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Ford F-150, And exotic hypercars, the fact is that all sorts of cars ply the roads of this country. You can find everything here from a humble hatchback to a fire-breathing hypercar with a 16-cylinder motor.

In this article, we’ll take a look at the five most favourite sedans from Asian manufacturers in the UAE.

Toyota Camry

There is no question about it: Toyota is one of the most preferred automotive companies in the UAE. Be it hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, or trucks, Toyota has got a clear lead in the Middle Eastern automotive business. Among all its cars, the Camry mid-size sedan sees robust, consistent sales. It offers the perfect mix of design, features, and can comfortably cruise down the open highways thanks to its 2.5-litre four-cylinder motor good for 178hp.

The 2018 Toyota Camry starts at AED 91,050 for the base S trim with the 2.5-litre engine, and goes up to AED 114,100 for the top-end SE Plus trim which comes with a 3.5-litre, 298-hp V6.

Nissan Altima

Like I said before, Toyota is one of the most preferred automotive manufacturers in the UAE. Nissan has cornered an equally large chunk of the market with its quality offerings. The Nissan Altima has been the cash cow of the Japanese automaker in the UAE ever since the company introduced the midsize sedan here. With its decent power and mileage, and a no-nonsense approach to design, the Altima is a credible option in the midsize segment.

Nissan has not made the car the sharpest handler or the best looker among its peers, but it offers more interior space than the Camry, Kia Optima, and the Honda Accord. It also generously gobbles up a lot of cargo, making it ideal for the long haul. Backed up by the 182hp 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, the Altima ticks all the boxes in the value for money department.

The 2018 Nissan Altima is priced at AED 83,200 for the base S trim while the top-end SV trim comes in at AED 90,300.

Kia Optima

Kia is making steady progress in the global automotive industry by offering boldly designed cars with well-appointed interiors that offer good value for money. While the firm has yet to catch up with the command the Japanese have over most global markets, it has the affordability card up its sleeve to win over buyers.

The Kia Optima is a feature-loaded sedan that offers sumptuous interiors (for the segment), an advanced safety suite, and creature comforts normally seen in cars sitting in higher segments. 17-inch alloy wheels, climate control, 7-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation, electronic stability control, hill ascent/descent control, Bluetooth with voice recognition, LED DRLs- all of these are standard on the entry-level trim.

Kia offers a choice of two transmissions and two powertrains on the 2018 Kia Optima. The base trim costs AED 71,550 while the most expensive trim can be yours for AED 117,050.

Honda Accord

The Honda Accord has been on par with the best of its rivals in terms of build quality, design, and innovation. Now in its tenth generation, it still commands a loyal fan following among enthusiasts of the 42-year-old nameplate. Honda has never neglected the Accord’s legacy, giving it updates and refreshes wherever required to stay abreast of the times. The car has in fact moved up a segment when the company redesigned it as a mid-size sedan from 1990 onwards.

The 2018 Honda Accord boasts of a futuristic, classy design complete with LED lighting all around, a spacious footprint, and an intuitive user interface that endears it to the more digitally-inclined clients. The Japanese haven’t skimped on safety either, bestowing the Accord with an advanced web of safety and driver assistance systems.

The Accord is a proper executive saloon featuring generous legroom, active noise cancellation, and a commanding presence required of cars of such stature. Despite all of this, however, the base LX trim rings in at AED 91,500, while the top end, V6-driven EX trim retails at AED 138,400.

Mazda 6

Although Mazda is a brand that has been continually overshadowed by its Asian peers, the fact remains that the automaker makes some seriously desirable automobiles. Case in point, the Mazda 6. This sedan is a fresh alternative to the other options in the midsize sedan segment.

While cars like the Altima, Accord, and Camry make do with subtle understated designs, the Mazda 6 breaks the norm with a sporty and bold look. The design of the car is busy but in a good way. Those sculpted swoops starting from the headlamps and ending below the outer rearview mirror make it stand out by a mile among its rivals.

The 6 does not disappoint in the interior department either. It is spacious and luxurious on the inside, all the while giving subtle hints of a sporty car. Creature comforts, safety features, upmarket materials- the Mazda 6 has it all.

The family-friendly Mazda starts at AED 85,500 for the entry-level S trim, going all the way to AED 134, 950 for the R Grade variant. All the trims are powered by a 2.5-litre inline-four engine good for 182hp.
