The New Continental GT Speed Is The Most Capable Bentley To Date
Bentley has revealed the all-new Continental GT Speed and we are told that it is the most capable and performance-focused Bentley to date.
Underneath the bonnet resides Bentley’s 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine that delivers a whopping 650 horsepower and 900Nm of torque. As a result, the GT Speed will reach 62mph in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 208 mph (335 km/h). That is supercar pace!
The main attraction of the car is its electronic limited-slip rear differential. Bentley says that this Continental GT Speed is their most agile car to date. The diff gives the driver more freedom and control when the car comes out of corner. In the ‘Comfort’ driving modes the diff improves traction and stability at high speeds while in ‘Sport’ mode the car becomes more nimble and agile.
Another trick up the GT Speed’s sleeve is its Electronic All-Wheel Steering. The Steering moves the front and rear wheels in opposite directions at moderate speeds while at high speed both set of wheels turn in the same direction. Clever.
This Bentley can also drift thanks to the steering and stability control. While the word drifting hasn’t been mentioned by Bentley, the British carmaker claims that with traction control off, you can “choose to balance throttle and steering to deliver effortless, progressive yaw angles.”
Inside you will find an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox which changes gears twice as fast as in the regular car in Sport mode. The whole cabin has lots of alcantara and carbon. The centre console has a classy aluminium finish.
The car sits on 22-inch wheels and has lots of option you can tick including carbon ceramic brakes. Exterior-wise the GT Speed has chrome “Speed” badging, lower bumper air intakes, side sills having a Dark Tint finish and a more angry look.
The Conti GT Speed is set to go on sale in the summer and the prices haven’t been released by Bentley as of now.
