The internal combustion engine’s future looks bleak. The V12 along with other petrol powered engines could wave us goodbye very soon so now is the time to savour all the awesome V12 cars. However, despite the uncertain future of the V12, Ferrari has unveiled the 812 Competizione – an 830 horsepower monster. If this is the V12’s ultimate swansong, then Ferrari is giving some send-off to the legendary engine.

Under bonnet you will find  a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 thumping out 830 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. The V12 not only packs 30 horsepower more than the 812 Superfast but it also has a redline of 9,500rpm. As a result, this is the highest-revving Ferrari to date. WOW

0-62 mph takes 2.85 seconds in this V12 Ferrari while you will 124 mph from a standing start in 7.5 seconds along with a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h). The engine is mated to a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic which has been recalibrated for better shift times.

This special 812 has redesigned pistons, titanium con-rods that are 40 per cent lighter, a diamond-like carbon coating on the piston pins, new cylinder heads and a redesigned intake system.

The Competizione also has four-wheel-steering, new carbon fibre wheels and better aerodynamics. Another party-piece is a new air intake setup which gives the car new bonnet ‘blade’ and arch louvers which help in the cooling of the engine. Such a fast car also needs some equally special brakes, and the brakes on the Competizione have a cooling system from the SF90.

As compared to the 812 Superfast, the Competizione 30 per cent more front downforce thanks to a front and rear diffuser. Ferrari has also revealed an open-top Targa version of this special 812 creates a “sense of aesthetic continuity with the roll bars.”

Only 999 Competizione and 599 Targas will be made. Want one? Well you can’t because all the cars are already sold out.
