Subaru WRX STI Quicker Than Lambo SV On Nurburgring
Nurburgring, one of the toughest tracks in the world, is a weekend getaway for many automobile enthusiasts. The track is so popular in the world that many automobile manufacturers bring their machines here to set a new lap time. However, not all of them succeed. One fine day it was the Subaru WRX STI Type RA NBR which went around and did a lap in 6m 57.5s.
By setting this lap time, this car has become the fastest four-door car around the Nurburgring. It is quicker than a Lamborghini Aventador SV which has a lap time of 6m 59s. It came extremely close to the lap time of a Porsche 918 Spyder, which is just half a second quicker and comes with a hefty price tag, more power and gizmos.
Of course, there were a few changes made to the car in order to make it capable of achieving this lap time. The car has a roll-cage and a redesigned aero-pack that includes DRS and enables approx 881 Nm of torque. Its engine is a modified unit; a 2.0-litre turbo boxer with a 75mm intake, 25 PSI of turbo boost, and a modified WRC gearbox with paddle-shifts (20ms fast) with an AWD system. All this addition gives a slight boost in power, a total of 600 of them.
You can judge the dedication of the team behind this by just the name of the car, Subaru WRX STI Type RA NBR. Didn’t get it? Well, the ‘RA’ here stands for ‘Record Attempt’. Clearly, this car was specifically designed to make a record. And we think, perhaps, ‘NBR’ would expand to Nurburgring.
