Audi has been quite busy doing extensive testing of its first all-electric crossover, the E-Tron. We’ve been seeing many spy shots of the test mule over the last few months. Now, the latest bunch of photos reveal the almost production-ready model. Have a look.

The test mule was spotted in southern Germany. It still wears the same disguise that we’ve seen in the last batch of spy shots, however, things are more clear now. Audi E-Tron will feature newly designed headlamps. There’s also a fresh front grille. We see a long, single-piece LED light at the rear, which separates into two brake lights. Let’s see how this would appear in the real life, especially during the night.

The E-Tron is a big vehicle, and it is going to be an important product for the German automaker. It is going to be powered by a 95-kWh Li-ion battery that has been placed on the floor of the vehicle. It will have 435 horsepower, which can be juiced up to 503 with the aid of a temporary boost. Audi claims that the E-Tron will have a range of about 400 km in a single charge. This number has been measured by the new Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP).

The charging time of the battery pack of the E-Tron is estimated to be a mere 30 minutes if plugged into a high-power charging station. Otherwise, it will take 8 hours 30 minutes to fully charge by using a 400-volt, three-phase power outlet.

Audi is expected to reveal the E-Tron sometime during August this year. Then we can expect it to be available at the showrooms early next year. Audi is also planning to develop more electric vehicles in the future. The next one would be a Sportback variant of the E-Tron itself. It could be followed by an electric sedan. Audi is aiming to ‘electrify’ its product catalog at the earliest to meet its target of selling no less than 800,000 electric cars per year by the middle of next decade.
