Say Hello To The World’s Most Powerful Cabrio
Electric cars and the future of mobility are the themes set to dominate the upcoming Frankfurt Motorshow. However, not all headlines will be about how we are going to ditch fossil fuels. Internal combustion technology isn’t ready to fade away yet and nothing solidifies that notion better than this, a 900bhp, 1,500Nm monster of a car. It also happens to be the most powerful four seater convertible (cabriolet) in the world right now.
Mercedes-Benz tuners Brabus, known for their outlandish body kits and even more outlandish power deliveries from mostly AMG engines have taken the wraps of this, the Brabus Rocket 900 Cabrio which will do a blistering 350kmph with the roof down.
Brabus has taken the 6.0 litre V12 engine out of a Mercedes-Benz S65 cabriolet which produces a staggering 612bhp in stock form and then bored it out to increase the displacement by an additional 300cc. The end result is a 6.3 litre V12 with some strengthened internals and a power output of 900bhp at 5,500rpm and 1,500Nm of torque at 4,200rpm. The road going versions will have a torque limit of 1,200Nm to preserve the gearbox from blowing up.
This modified engine gets forged pistons, billet-steel connecting rods and also a special long stroke camshaft in addition to upgraded turbochargers and a revised intake and exhaust system.
This is one car we’re going to watch out for at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show on September 14th, 2017.
