Porsche’s 70th-anniversary celebration continues as the company has now restored 10 of its 985-generation Boxters. A few weeks ago, the German manufacturer had announced that it would bring the 10 restored models to the NEC Classic Motor Show in England along with 10 other restored cars.

Marking its 70th anniversary, Porsche had earlier built a replica of the 356 No 1 Roadster and created a 993-generation 911 Turbo restomod. The company’s latest works on the Boxster is a little overwhelming as the iconic nameplate is already 22-years-old.

The first Boxster that came in the form of the 986 was launched in 1996 after a concept car debuted in 1993. The 10 restored cars built by the company will feature a host of genuine Porsche parts and accessories. The other models Porsche plans to bring include air-cooled, water-cooled, and transaxle cars.

Each of the 10 cars will sport the exclusive Liquid Metal exterior that is borrowed from the Porsche 918 Spyder. In the cabin, all the cars will feature a plaque that will read “70 years of Porsche” to mark their significance.

The company has also announced a second display to showcase the success of its “restoration” competition. Porsche had deployed each of its restoration centres to restore a 986 Boxster S and make it race-ready. Apart from that, each of these cars will sport a livery that is inspired by the company’s racing history.

We think that none of these markers would outplay Porsche’s grand surprise at the NEC. The Project 70 Race car which the company will conclude with at the NEC is based on a 1965 short-wheelbase 911 with a 2.0-liter engine. In 2018, race drivers such as Richard Attwood, Derek Bell, and Anthony Reid piloted the car at vintage racing events, including the Silverstone Classic, Le Mans Classic, and Nurburgring Oldtimer Grand Prix.
