Porsche Launches 718 Boxster T And Cayman T Editions
Porsche has launched new T performance variants of the 718 Cayman and 718 Boxster sports cars which feature lowered sports underpinnings formerly only available on the top-of-the-line S models.
The new models will get the 296hp 2.0-litre flat-four motor seen powering the base Cayman and Boxster trims. A number of performance upgrades on the chassis will also help the two cars get sharper dynamically. The engine makes 380Nm of torque, allowing the two models to crack the ton in 5.1 seconds. Top whack is projected at roughly 275kph. Each car weighs 1,350kg.
The T designation on the Cayman and the Boxster stands for Touring which is Porsche’s moniker for cars with “dynamic driving performance”. The two Porsches have undergone a host of changes. There are new dynamic gearbox mounts alongside the active drivetrain mounts to increase precision and stability. Porsche’s torque vectoring system including a mechanical rear axle differential lock, along with a dual-clutch PDK transmission are available as options.
Other changes include shorter-throw gearshifts, 20-inch titanium grey alloy wheels and the Sports Chrono package. Both models lose out on the infotainment system, instead getting a storage compartment in its place. Customers of the Touring trims can still opt for the infotainment as a no-cost option.
On the outside, the T models are differentiated by grey mirror shells featuring logos and a twin-exhaust placed centrally. The end caps are chrome. Inside, the unique trims feature black door pulls in the panels and electronic two-way adjustable sports seats with the 718 logo embroidered on the headrest. The cars also get a GT sports steering wheel with Boxster T or Cayman T logos on the instrument dials.
The 2019 718 Cayman T starts from $64,760 (AED 237,862) while the Boxster T is priced at $67,120 (AED 246,523).
