Porsche has officially pushed its Mission E Cross Turismo concept from the drawing board to production lines. It could be said that the new Turismo will be an alternative body style for the Taycan electric sedan.

The Mission E Cross Turismo was first showcased at the Geneva auto show in March this year as a rugged, high-riding ‘soft-roader’ wagon. However, it is not clear that the production version will be retained as a soft roader or simply a standard wagon option for the Taycan similar to that of the company’s Panamera Sport Turismo wagon.

We are not sure if Porsche will launch the car as a uni-variant or in both of the above mentioned. The Italian auto premiere has not set a date for the Turismo’s launch. However, if reports are to be believed, we could see the car hitting the showrooms by 2020.

We expect that the wagon will inherit the same mechanics and powertrains from the Taycan which means that the potential buyers of the car will be looking at two synchronous motors putting out an output of 600bhp with 300 miles of range.

Additionally, the car will also feature an 800V electrical system that could be charged up to 80 per cent in less than 20 minutes when connected to a 350-kilowatt charger.

The wagon’s production is set to take place at the company’s new facility at its main plant in Zuffenhausen, Germany. A total of 1,200 staff will be recruited at the plant with an investment that would go up to $7 billion for its various running programs.

Recent reports by Automotive News have hinted that the Taycan, a curtain raiser model of Porsche’s EV ambitions, will be priced lower than the Panamera sedan and higher than the Cayenne. Apart from that, Porshe executives also said that the top model of the upcoming complete electric car will be priced close to $200,000.
