Just a week after spy shots of a production-spec test mule surfaced on the internet, the Porsche 911 Turbo S has been revealed in full. The range-topping 992-gen 911 is now the quickest and most powerful 911 Turbo model ever.

How powerful? Well, the 3.8-litre turbocharged boxer-six engine makes 640hp and 800Nm. The power is routed to the rear wheels through an eight-speed PDK transmission optimised specifically for the new Turbo S. The engine and gearbox together send the car past 100kph in 2.7 seconds. From a standstill, the 911 Turbo S can hit 200kph in just 8.9 seconds, topping out at 330kph.

Porsche also unveiled the Turbo S Cabriolet that is just a tenth of a second slower to the ton than the coupe, achieving identical top speed to that of the latter. The new Porsche 911 Turbo S is wider than its predecessor. The firm has modified its track width and optimised aerodynamics.  New components are now part of the package to provide more downforce and high-speed stability.

Part of the enhanced aerodynamics package are adaptive cooling air flaps at the front, and a larger rear wing. As with all 992-gen 911s, the Turbo S is the first of its line to sit on 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels. The new Turbo S models also get two new factory options hitherto unavailable on the previous iterations. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) Sport makes the car sit lower by 10mm. A Sport Exhaust System adds adjustable exhaust flaps to the package for a distinctive exhaust note.

The cars also get Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, rear-axle steering, and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes with 10-piston front calipers. Inside, the Porsche 911 Turbo S is typically luxurious, yet sporty. The seats carry stitching patterns reminiscent of those on the first 911 Turbo. Porsche has equipped the cars with the Sport Chrono Package, Track Precision app, and a Bose surround sound system as standard.

The 2020 Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe and Cabriolet will be available to order soon, with deliveries scheduled to begin in September this year.
