As the W16 Mistral and the Bolide were completely sold out, the one-of-a-kind Bugatti Chiron Profilée was the only new car left to be sold, and its auction represented the last possible opportunity to buy a new Bugatti powered by the legendary W16 engine, directly from the Atelier in Molsheim, France. For such a crucial piece of Bugatti history on the table, the bidding war was fierce, both in the room and on the phones.
Sold for $ 10.7 million, the Bugatti Chiron Profilée smashes the world record for the most expensive new car ever auctioned
With the winning bid of $10.7 million net (AED 39,301,100 approx), the new owner of the Bugatti Chiron Profilée secured the chance to add this last purely gas-powered Chiron to their collection along with smashing the world record for the most valuable new car sold at auction. The name ‘Profilée’ is inspired by one of Jean Bugatti’s first creations – a specific Type 46 model named "Surprofilée", with a sleeker silhouette and an elegant sweeping tail. Just as that car remains a crucial part of Bugatti history, the Chiron Profilée has now added its own chapter to the 114-year-old heritage of Bugatti.
The Profilée is also the first Chiron sold to be fitted with a woven leather finish in the interior. It gets a unique exterior colour named Argent Atlantique. Bugatti says that the colour is absolutely unique and has never – and will never be – applied on any other Chiron model.
The rear wing directly integrated into the body of the car provides stability at higher speeds and regulates the engine temperature. It features special horseshoe-style wheels inspired by the famous Bugatti horseshoe grille, and are designed and fabricated especially for the car and represent other details which can only be found on the Profilée. The Chiron Profilée also gets new steering and suspension settings for better handling.
Legendary W16 Engine of the Chiron Profilée
The Chiron Profilée uses the same engine as the Chiron Pur Sport, however, the automotive solitaire stands out with its pattern and features. The Chiron Profilée is powered by 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine generating a whopping 1,479 horsepower and 1600Nm of torque (1,180 pound-feet). The Chiron Profilée can accelerate 0-100kmph in 2.3 seconds and 0-200kmph in 5.5 seconds thanks to its revised transmission with shorter gear ratios. The hypercar is capable of achieving an electronically limited top speed of 380kmph (236 mph), 30kmph more than the Chiron Pur Sport.A word from the officials
